Crowds August 6th-13th???

I know this is redundant, and has probably been asked 1 million times, but I can never seem to find a solid answer. One person will post, then the next person says the completely opposite thing.

Well, how are the crowds Aug 6th-13th? Are they as bad as mid-summer crowds, or do they thin out some?

I'm taking 1 (possibly 2, if her parents let her) of my friends to WDW that week, and I wanted to know what the crowds are like. I've been down the last week of August, and it's empty. And my aunt & uncle went down a week before us, and they said it was empy too.

We'll be in the parks Aug. 4-11. Not my first choice of dates, mind you, but those were the only days DH could get off.

The Unofficial Guide has the crowds rated at "8" and "9" for all of those days so the crowds will be significant. The numbers start to drop on Aug. 13 and by the 20th they are even lower, and lower still by the very end of the month. The later it gets into August the more kids are back at school. By the last of August the parks drop back into "value" season. Last year they started "free dining" around Aug. 27, I think. So there is a HUGE difference in crowd level from the first part of August to the last.

I'd love to hear what someone who has been there during this time says about the crowds. We'll be there at that time in 2007.

We were at Disney from 08-03-05 through 08-12-05 and the crowds were not that bad if you knew how to work around them, fast pass, ride the prime rides early, take breaks, priority seating reservations for lunch/dinner, etc. Have a game plan!!! We rode on all of the rides we wanted with less than a 20 minute wait (using fast passes of course).

Thanks for the feedback!! I'll definitely use Fastpass. I've been to Disney lot of times, and my one friend has only been there once, and the other not at all. So I'll be able to navigate around the crowds.
