I'm planning a major solo trip to Australia/New Zealand in May/18. Since my return flight transits me through LAX, I'm thinking of tagging a side trip to DL for 4 days before returning home. It's not going to cost me anymore than what I've already budgeted for the trip, so it make's DL a viable option for me. I was wondering what the crowds and the temps are like the last week of May? Just to give me an idea of what to expect that time of year at the parks. Any info regarding this would be appreciated.

We were there the last week of May last year (Day after Memorial Day through the 1st of June) and it was pretty crowded, but it was also the beginning of the 60th anniversary celebrations, so I'm sure crowds were a bit higher due to that! There are grad nights around that time as well which can add to the crowds. As long as we got there at opening, we could get a bunch done before lunch when the crowds started getting heavier. Because the parade and fireworks were new, it was pretty packed in the evenings. We still got a lot done and didn't have any crazy waits in line (35-40 minutes tops). I had prepared myself for super crowded and super long lines, and it wasn't quite as bad as I'd thought it would be so that helped!

Weather was in the mid-upper 70s and low 80s. Cloudy and a bit cool some mornings, but I wore shorts and a light jacket comfortably until the clouds burned off, and the light jacket was plenty for evenings too. It was never uncomfortably hot though :)

Anytime over a holiday weekend will be busy, but Memorial Day won't be bad. As for the weather, it's hard to tell, right now we are at the 100 degree mark. May is usually Gray and June Gloomy, but we do get these days once in awhile.

We've done Memorial week. It can be hot, 90s aren't out of the question. But neither are 70s! Light jacket in the evenings. And it is always crowded. Just how DL is these days. I don't really remember it being gloomy, maybe in the morning but it was usually sunny by afternoon when we were there.

It sounds like the temps in Anaheim won't be much warmer than what I'll be encountering in Australia/New Zealand during those legs of my 15 day vacation. The crowds sound like they are very manageable. HMMM, sounds like I'm probably going to have to add a 4 day trip to DL on the way home. Irony is that I had originally planned a DL trip during this time, but decided to change it to an overseas trip instead. Looking like for all the trip planning I've done over the past 2 1/2 months, that things have come full circle. But this time towards the end of a much longer trip. What started out has a 5 day DL trip, morphed into the Australia/New Zealand trip, to being a 15 day trip that added DL at the end of my trip. It's 3 countries in 15 days, can you say jet lag??:faint::faint: Thanks to everyone that replied, the DL leg came about my DS13 suggesting if it was in my budget to add it on. I guess he want's some time away from mom and the kids don't mind if I travel to DL without them, especially since they are headed to WDW in Jan/17.

i was there this past week (mon/tues). it was chilly and cloudy in the morning, warmed up to the high 70's in the afternoon. really, anything can happen.
