Crowds and Temps 8/18-25?

As you can guess from the title, we are heading to Orlando 8/18-25. We are doing the Nick Hotel for 3 nights and will probably spend the majority of those days at the hotel. However, we bought 7 day UO/IOA tix and want to hit the parks, but are afraid of the crowds/heat. DH will not be happy to spend the day fighting crowds and sweating to death. Plus we will have 3 kids with us (age 8,5 and 1 1/2) Any advice would be appreciated!!! We were planning to do each park 1 full day Thurs and Fri. of our stay.

Weather forecasting is not very accurate 3 weeks in advance. But Orlando is always hot, hot, hot in August. The crowds are usually thinning out by that time so I wouldn't expect long lines. But you will be sweating to death--it's Florida in August, 'nuff said.

We're in Orlando 8/15-8/22, so we'll be sweating away right next to you. I expect to see hot humid days and afternoon thundershowers. It's all part of the experience, right?

Expect sunny, hot and humid conditions daily with thunderstorms in the afternoons.

When you see 3 (make that 4 if you want to include this) identical posts informing you it's going to be very hot and very humid you can expect it to be true. That said, plan on getting there early and hitting the major attractions before the lines build up. That way when the late risers are sweating in line you can be sitting down enjoying a show.

By the way, in case you feel guilty about not wanting to sweat away your days with kids in tow keep in mind that when they survey children in the age groups your kids are they find that their favorite part of a Disney/Universal vacation is the hotel swimming pool.

We'll be there at the same time. Having lived in Florida for several years, the forecast in August is as everyone says. Unless there's a hurricane, every day is hot, hazy, and humid, with late afternoon thunderstorms. After our soggy and cloudy summer here in the Northeast I cannot wait!

Thanks all-I bought the fan misters, coolong scarves and cooling wrist bands-I am from Washington state and have never experienced this kindof weather so I am quite nervous about it. Let's just say anything over 78 degrees is too hot to me! Plus there limited amount of time so rush rush rush. Thank goodness no little kids

We're here now and haven't gone to the parks yet, but the weather's not too bad. It's hot and humid during the day, but by 5:00 it's been breezy and gorgeous. Even the middle of the day heat hasn't been too overhwhelming. Maybe we're just used to it since we come down every summer, but it's not too bad!

We were that same week in August 2007. I was hot, but not much different than at home (we live in NH). What we found worked best for us was to get up early and be at the turnstiles when the parks opened. You can get a lot done between 9 am - noon before the lines really start to form. We would stay until about 1 pm and then go back to our rental house for a swim, something to eat, rest, etc. We'd then go back in the late afternoon (around 4-5 pm) and stay until close (8-9 pm). We found it really helped to get out of the worst heat of the day.
