How are the crowds last week of Sept and first week of Oct? Trying to figure out if we should book hotel with Express Pass or maybe Sapphire Falls?

Have been there during that time period many times
Once it is October, first week is very good with low crowds

I don't expect bad crowds when I'm there this year

Weekends could be the only days you will see more in the parks

my family and I stayed there last September and going again for a two week stay from 9/19 to 10/3.

Last year the lines were very manageable. We had a two week pass, so we weren't rushing at all. The parks got crowded over the two weekends we stayed there.

Last year Kong just opened, so the queue was at least 100 mins over our whole stay. Maybe that had some effect on the crowd levels for the other rides.

This year Volcano Bay might have some effects, wet n wild was half empty last September.

We booked a room at Cabana Bay, so no express passes for us. We might do it for a couple of days if we feel like we need it.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful time. Quick question: are you tilting more towards Universal?

Goldman, we are Disney lovers who stayed at UO last year for 8 days and didn't go to WDW at all. We were booked at WDW this year until yesterday when we cancelled and got a great deal for PBR for 8 nights so once again will be staying at UO. Since we are at PBR we'll have Express Pass so no longer worried about crowds, but thank you for your informative reply.

I wish I had a crystal ball! I have two sets of reservations, $263 (+ $20 parking) at RPR and $110/night (w/breakfast) at the Homewood Suites for my solo trip. The Homewood is walkable for me (I've done further.) and would save me over $500 on the room alone. I can be tough (and pricey) to feed in a theme park so the idea of a kitchenette is very appealing.

I'd save with Homewood even if I purchase unlimited Express every day although at that price point I think I'd prefer to stay on site. Decisions, decisions.
