I was just wondering if mid-October is going to be crowded at WDW. The park hours that I saw seemed pretty late compared to what I remembered from last year at the same time. I'll be there October 14-19 and want to plan it so that we can get the most out of the trip, even if it *is* a bit crowded!

Last year, we went Oct 13-18; and after reading the Boards, I was a little concerned about crowds because we arrived on Columbus Day.

But we really lucked out because it was not crowded at all!! Most of the rides had a 10 minute or less wait time! Some of them, we walked right on. (We rode Buzz Lightyear quite a few times with no fast pass!!!) We didn't ride any of the "mountain" rides because it was just DH, Me, and DD(8) and she doesn't like to ride those rides.

We had a great time at MNSSHP too!!! It was a great trip!!!

we were there last year during the opening of the new rides the mission space and mickeys philharmagic so they had the big press event that was why it was so crowded but not impossible to get through. I don't think there is a press event this year.:Pinkbounc

I have heard from a CM that there is some sort of convention that will be there sometime in October that is causing a lot of the rooms to fill up. I don't know what kind it is or if it will have an impact on crowds, but it is always better in my opinion to have a heads up about these types of things so you can be mentally prepared for it. Then if it is less crowded, you are pleasantly surprised instead of the other way around. Still it should be much less crowded than summer months.

October is a very popular "convention" month in WDW..that is why it was changed from value to regular season.

This really affects the resorts more than the parks. Of course there are some conventioneers that bring family but there's a lot that don't.

We go a lot in October and will be there again this October. It has always been good crowd-wise and weather-wise. Lines are usually short if not a walk-on. Of course, some of the really popular rides might have longer lines, but nothing like when it's crowded.

Don't forget that the lines vary with the time of day, too. The best example I can think of is Spaceship Earth in Epcot. When you enter the park early in the day the lines can wind all the way around and back again, but later on it's a walk-on.

Have a great trip!
