Hi All,

I was just wondering about how you think crowd levels would be at the end of August/beginning of Sept- are most schools back in by this time?

Have you looked to see when the AP's are blocked or unblocked for the time you are going. Also search "August" and you will get a ton of threads.

Hi Jack,

I'm pretty new, can you explain how I would do this?

Best,
Ally

All the area schools do not attend at the same time. You do not want to go during labor day weekend but usually the week after that is safe. You also have to consider the Or, Az, and Wa schools since many people travel to DLR from those areas. I am trying to find another thread that may help you better understand.

Jack, thank you....we are cosidering sometime in the week before Labour Day for a little return trip- we are going presidents week (my mistake for not checking the US holiday schedule) and might pop back as DH starts a new 2 year course so I don't know if we will get away again for a while after Sept...

We have been the last week of August and found the crowds very manageable. As Jack says you will want to clear out before Labour Day weekend though. The marathon is usually around Labour Day weekend too, so that's another reason to leave before then. Many of the local schools are back in session by late August too, so that helps.
We found the crowds to be about the same as WDW at this time (with less humidity!)

We went last year from august 22nd to the 27th and it was great. The crowds were low during the daytime & CA seemed more crowded during early evening mostly because of WoC.

We were scared with all the reports that select southern annual passes holders were going to take over, but no, it was very nice.

I would choose that same week again if we were to go in august.

We went the 2nd to 3rd week and it was very busy but doable, The year before the 3rd week was horrible after the passes unblocked, my big tacticle error.

I feel that crowds have been behaving in a different way than expected over the past couple of years. October 2008 was great & when we came back in
October 2009 (same week), it was a nightmare, it was so crowded during the nighttime you could barely walk.

Let's hope for our plans' sake they become predictable again ;)

Unless something changed last year over Labor Day, when I did the 1/2 Marathon, it was not crowded in the parks. In fact, it was so dead on Friday before that we did ever ride by 11:30. I questioned a CM about it and they said that Labor Day is not that busy - locals stay away because of the races that weekend and others don't come because their kids are back in school. I was told that was one of the reasons Disney switched the races to that weekend - the first year it was in Oct. Now the races make it difficult to get to the resort if you are driving in the morning because of the road closures and the parks open 1 hour later to clear out all the racers.
