Hey all,
I know it's going to be really hot and humid, but what are the crowds like. I know a lot af kids are back in school that week. What should I expect?

Thanx

Hi,

It will get more crowded toward the Labor Day weekend, but it should be manageable.

You're right that it will be hot and humid. I was there the last week of August 2004 - it was scorching. The heat index for 3 of the 5 days I was there was well over 100 degrees. It was really, really, really bad. Are you catching my drift????? :sunny:

Sorry - forgot to answer the part of your question regarding crowds. It was very empty. I went on Tower of Terror (which is my absolute favorite ride in all of WDW) 5 times in a row without waiting in any line whatsoever. I asked the guy at the train station at Magic Kingdom where everyone was and he said that was the absolute best time of the year to go as far as crowd level - as long as you can handle the heat.

Good to know! I was worried it'd be really crowded when we hit the parks, but it sounds like we'll be there at the perfect time. As far as the heat goes.. we're tough! :rotfl:

Last week in August and the first week in September is my favorite time to go to Disney, it is hot but...... I Love going at this time of the year, we have not been able to do so do to my daughters High School Schedule but once she is off to college we will be back. You can always get out of the heat just go inside and you can because it is NOT crouded. Have a great time.

We walked on to every ride with a wait of ten minutes or less. As Labor Day approached the crowds did increase noticeably (it was funny, as my "spoiled" kids would disgustedly skip any ride with a wait time of more than 20 minutes!), but the parks were practically deserted.

As far as the heat goes, I remember being quite hot, but we "felt" the heat worse on our June/July trips.

We went in Aug 2004 also - very hot & humid. However, I think it was much worse when we went in July 2005. My daughter and I could not handle the heat/humidity that trip.

The crowd level is very manageable in late August. We had little to no wait during AM hours. The parks got crowded in the afternoons, but we went back to the hotel to do some swimming.

Too funny - we went the same time as you both years! And you were 100% correct! August was way better! :cheer2:

I am both thrilled and ever so slightly worried about this thread!! I'll be on my honeymoon the last week in august!! I'm so glad to know the crowds are very low...my DF is a little ADD and long lines would kill him...the heat won't be nice, but I'd take heat over crowds any day!!! :cool1:

This will be the third year in a row that we have chosen to go late August and we love it! Low crowds and lots of swimming. It has become our summer trip before the kids go back to school and the fall weather sets in for us. We'll be there 8/20-9/1 this year :)

the last week of august used to be our "little secret"........ :ssst:
low crowds, hot but not unbearable, & a daily thunderstorm to cool things down.
however, we anticipate the crowd level to be MUCH larger this year b/c of the free dining.

if the parks are too crowded, we'll hang out at the resort (BWV). :earsboy:
