Heading down tomorrow for my first October trip (we usually go in early December or mid-January but decided to do Halloween rather than Christmas).

Since I'm really used to the smaller crowds the recent posts have been getting me worried. I'm definately expecting Magic Kingdom to be packed as most posts have said (but since we're doing a mid-week MNSSHP we should be fine). Most posts on the crowds I've read really focus on MK. How are the other parks crowd-wise? Are MGM / Epcot / AK just as overly crowded or is the biggest noticible difference this year mostly at MK?

Also, does it seem that the general rule of avoiding the EE park still seem to hold this month?

Thanks all,

See you down there . . . .

We just got back Friday and I hate to say it, but it was far worse than I had imagined. We have been three times and this was by far the most crowded I have seen it. The first time was early May and the crowds were fairly light. We were there last march(18-22) and it was fairly crowded. Fall break in my opinion was much more crowded than spring break. I realize a lot of people do not have fall break, but many school systems in the south are going to the year round school schedule that has a break in October. Be warned, it is definitely crowded. Major attractions had waits of between 30-60 minutes depending on the time of day. I realize that according to people that have been in summer months this is not that bad, but for those who are expecting lighter crowds this could be a terrible shock to the system. Good luck, maybe this coming week won't be as bad.

To answer your question more completely, yes all of the parks did seem busier but especially MK. Epcot wasn't too bad, but it is so spread out, it absorbs crowds better. Ak and MGM both seemed more crowded than I remember from past trips. We went straight to ToT upon arrival and there was already a 45 min. wait in the stand by line. Obviously we got a fast pass, but none the less it was shocking.

I really struggling between wanting Disney's attendance to pick up, but then have crowds. We are used to light crowds.

All of the post regarding crowds are making me anxious!

We were there Oct 2-8. We normally go close to the end of Sept so we are spoiled with not waiting in line. You could tell the crowds were a bit heavier but not really that bad and with Fastpass not a problem to hit everything we wanted to. The worst line we saw was 1 hour wait for MS on 10/8 at noon time. But by 2pm the wait was 15 minutes--regular line and 10 min single rider.
I think it also helps to know which days are bad for certain parks then hit one of the others.
