Crop Pants in Dining Room

This question is directed to any ladies who have recently sailed the 7-day cruise and who noticed attire of the other ladies at dinner:

Since crop pants have come into fashion since the last time I sailed with Disney in 2000, would they be appropriate in the dining rooms in the evenings? I have some mid-calf crop pants that I'm thinking of bringing to wear at dinner (but, of course, not on formal and semi-formal nights). One pair is white and the other chambray. Would it be appropriate to wear those, or are they too casual? I know chambray crop pants might be considered awfully close to jeans, which I know they don't like to see, so I really need some wardrobe help!

Thanks for any input or opinions.

Thanks,
Kim Tennison

That is exactly what I wore for most nights, except the formal nights... It was totally appropriate, and I wasn't uncomfortable or felt I was underdressed.. Actually, more people than I had imagined came to dinner looking underdressed than what I thought it would be like. I was surprised.I was better dressed than quite a few folks, if I can be honest. One guy showed up in Parrot Cay dressed in a tank top and black jogging shorts, the kind that are high cut.... He was YUKKY looking. His whole family was dressed nice, but him, so I know it wasn't lost luggage that caused it..

We have seen lots of casual wear at dinner on the 3-day and the 7-day cruises. including jeans, shorts, etc., so the crop pants should be fine.

I haven't sailed yet, but wanted to voice my opinion.

The white ones would be great with a nice top and pretty sandals--how "tropical"! :D

But IMHO you hit the nail on the head, the chambray ones would be too close to jeans, and should probably be avoided. DH has some chambray pants, and he doesn't wear them any place that jeans wouldn't be accepted or acceptable.

I wore capris on many nights for dinner when we cruised in June 2001 (not formal, or course..)..I have a pair of white and a khaki pair and they were perfect...brought several tops (sleeveless sweaters, tanks with blouses for over them, etc) and also some sundresses and I fit right in. Personally, I would probably stay away from the chambray since as others have said, they might look like jeans, but that is just a personal thing..you will see people in EVERYTHING at dinner, including jean shorts and t's...I didn't think it is a big deal to try and abide by the dress code...you can really be very casual on casual nights, just stay away from shorts, jeans, t's....I think the dress codes are there for a reason, and my whole family stuck by them....you will see it all though and fit in with anything really...Enjoy your cruise!

I have never heard of "Crop Pants" so I am not sure what they are.... but I did wear capris to dinner every night on the 4 day cruise and saw plenty of others wearing them too.

Are "crop pants" (I've never heard this term) the same as capris?

The only long pants I took on the our April 7-night cruise were capris. I wore these every night (other than semi-formal and formal) in the dining rooms and was totally comfortable and appropriate.

I wore black cropped pants to dinner on non-formal night on our 7-day in Dec 2001.

Not a problem at all. Lot of people will have them.

Capri's actually fall just below the knee where 'crop pants' or 'flood pants' fall just a couple inches above the ankles.
