I love Crocs, but as we all know, they are terrible when it is wet. Super slippery! Are there Crocs that have good traction on wet pavement? I'm looking for a pair that I can wear when it rains at Disney World.
Thanks!

PS. Wasn't paying attention and experienced having my Crocs sucked into an escalator the other day. I wasn't hurt and my shoes were not damaged, but it was an unsettling feeling.:scared1:

I have the Capris and they are horrible on wet pavement. I fell really hard on my tailbone a couple weeks ago.

Which ones do you have, and how did they get sucked into the escalator? I've heard horror stories about that but didn't know which part of the shoe was actually getting caught.

I have crocs cleos and have never had any toruble in wet pavement at WDW. the only time they failed me was getting in and out of a wet rowboat...long story...but otherwise no problems

I was wearing my Mary Janes on the escalator. It wasn't a big deal. I was able to pull my foot (and shoe) out before it got caught. It was just an unpleasant feeling.

I've been wearing my Cleos for 2 years and they still have great traction.

There is a spot in EPCOT that is really bad by the Character Spot that whole area I think the pavement or it might even be tile is red. I can't remember for sure but Whoa it was slippery! I also took a spill in the Lego store in DTD on a rainy day and one of the wooden bridges in Port Orleans!! It was a fun trip :headache: As much as it kills me I will not be wearing my crocs to WDW again.

I haven't tried these, but someone said they'd had much better luck with Nothinz brand? I would actually like to try them, since they are supposed to have a much more defined footbed/arch support, and the lack of that keeps me from being able to wear Crocs. But, the poster specifically said they had better wet traction, which I thought was interesting.... Anyone know anything about that?

I am hoping to find some in person to test out, without having to order them... Gah.

I don't know if this will help, but Crocs makes a shoe for restaurants called the Bistro. They are slip resistant with water and oil. I have a pair and love them! I have had no problems at all. The only problem is they do not come in a vented design. At least not that I know of.

But I think they might also have a shoe for boating that might be slip resistant as well. Give the website a check.:thumbsup2

Why don't you just wear a good pair of tennis shoes, and be done with it?:confused3

I noticed a few weeks ago when we were there that they have now installed a spongy type flooring to prevent fatigue. I noticed this red area by the charater spots and the DVC stands and it was slippery and I had tennis shoes on.

Because if the pavement is wet, it was probably wet from rain. I would prefer to not wear wet squishy tennis shoes around the parks.;)

I found that my Crocs were slipping on the wet pavement because they were a year and a half old and the tread had worn away. I bought a new pair of the originals and had no problems. It's so much better now that I don't have to take baby steps every time I get near a puddle LOL

I wear my Crocs Athens sandals every day during the warm months, so I find that they are worn out (the traction on the bottom is worn off) by the end of the season. I recycle the old ones and get myself a new pair when the summer rolls around again! The only time I had problems with them being too slippery was when I tried to keep wearing them into the next season. If yours are too slippery, it's probably time for a new pair!

Never had any problems with any sort of Crocs in the wet, unless the sole had worn. Sounds like you need a new pair!

DH wore fake crocs around WDW and nearly broke his neck on a number of occasions after rainstorms, where DD and I were perfectly fine in our (new for the trip) real crocs!

The only time I have ever had a problem with Crocs is when I wore out the sole completley.. I went to walk down my stairs. while it was raining and slipped and fell right off.. almost breaking my arm! I have to say though I wore them every day.. I mean every day.. until that happened. So I love Crocs you just have to watch the soles for the wet weather!

During our Oct. '07 trip, I took Crocs for myself and my girls, and my husband wore tennis shoes. I brought tennis shoes in the stroller for myself and my girls if we needed to change. We were new to Crocs at that time. My feet were perfect the entire week, they didn't really hurt too bad, my girls never complained, but my hubby was really sore and hurting by the end of the day. Plus, it rained, mainly poured for many of the days and it was no problem at all for us in Crocs as we just walked right in the water with no worries, no slipping etc. My husband on the other hand had sopping wet shoes for much of our trip!

We are going again next week and I have just fit my 2 yr old with a new pair, and again my girls and I will be wearing Crocs, while my hubby still insists on wearing his tennis shoes. He says men don't wear crocs, but I'm all about being comfortable!! My dad is coming with us and I've even talked him into wearing a pair as well! Oh well, some people never learn!

Oh yeah, btw, I've found they are great for everything on a WDW trip. Going to the beach, no problem. Going to the pool, no problem. In the park in rain, no problem. Shower in them in your room (if you are bothered about standing barefoot) or wearing them in your hotel room if its dirty. You really only need one pair for the whole trip. Plus taking them on and off while going through airport security is no problem, as is being comfortable on the airplane in them. This trip, I'm not bringing any other shoes for me or the kids, just one pair of crocs each.

Really, I don't work for them, just a big fan of them. They aren't the most attractive, but they are great otherwise!
