I am looking for the perfect pair of shoes to take on our vacation in 2 weeks and I can not decide :confused3 I have read great things about both the crocs and the birkenstocks. I am about 30 weeks pregnant and I just want to get the most comfortable shoes I can. Any suggestions would be so helpful! Then I can stop driving my husband crazy!!!!!!! :rotfl:

Get the best of both! :) My local Payless has knock-off Crocs in the Birk style for $10. they are made of the Crocs material, but have the two straps like Birks. I also bought the original style ones, which I LOVE. I think those would be better for riding rides as they have the strap to keep them secure. BUT you have to try them on! I bought a full size smaller than I normally wear.

They are very roomy and perfect for swollen feet :)

If your trip is in two weeks, you may want to skip Birkenstocks. There is a definite break in period for these for the footbed to conform to your foot. I haven't tried Crocs, so can't comment on these.

I have two favorites for comfort, Teva Niyati, and Keen Antigua. I can wear either pair for hours day after day, and never have a problem.

Have fun on your vacation!

Having read about Crocs on these pages I went out two weeks ago and bought a pair for each of my family. My husband said he won't wear them in public but wears nothing else around the house. As for me and the kids, we hate to take them off! I know that they'll be great at WDW. 65 days and counting down... :hourglass

Personally I plan on wearing my Birks but they do require a break in time for sure. Once they are formed tho-best things around. I bought my fiirst pair when I was 20 weeks pregnant and hardly wore any other shoes (and that was Fall and Winter!!! :) :flower:

I vote for the Keen ~ soooo comfy!

They have a style called Newport ~ cool hiking type sandal that is waterproof and very stylish.

Hint ~ If you have a size 7-8 or 9? foot try the kids. They don't come in all the colors, but they are half the price

Not pregnant but I have worn Crocs in the parks 3 days straight with only about a 3 hour breaking in time before we left for vacation. I do not really think they need a breaking in time. They only need you to wear them . As you do they warm up and conform to your feet. I would definetely try the real crocs over the payless ones if you can. I have real my DD has Payless and I can tell a difference in the cushiony part of it. Have a great trip!!!

Lots of men wear clogs. They are super comfortable, Crocs included.

I'm going to wear my Crocs when I go on the 17th. They are super comfortable. I am now the proud owner of 4 pair in a variety of colors.

Crocs.com is pretty much out of stock on most colors and styles but you could try by calling them. I finally got a pair from them that had been backordered for several months. Zappos.com had them in stock and had free overnight shipping.

I've bought a pair at Dillards down here and a friend bought a pair at Von Maur in Chicago. I don't know who carries them in your area but check the Crocs website for dealer locations in your area.

I love my Cros but I gotta say they ARE pretty goofy looking.

Im 30 weeks pregnant too! I broke down and just had to try these Crocs that everyone raves about. I had seen them last summer while traveling in Aspen and thought how ugly and cheap! I have owned many pairs of Birks as well. I normally wear sneakers at DW (New Balance) but plan on wearing crocs next time. Theyre so lighweight (like hardly wearing anything) and I didnt need any break in time, unlike Birks. If Crocs get dirty, you just hose them off. Theyre a lot cheaper too. I will say my feet tend to sweat more in Crocs since theyre closed, but the holes help air things out. They dont stink thanks to the antibacterial material. Theyre not the prettiest things out there, but then again neither were Birks when they first made it big over here! I have tried them with socks, but feel my foot slips a bit (I prefer to be barefoot anyways). They have gotten wet and my foot slid a little inside, but not traction wise (and they dried out fast). Theyre the shoe I wear the most these days, even as the temps soar into the mid 80s. I wont wear them to the grocery store though-seems every time I touch something metal I get shocked! I hate that, and when wearing Birks it happened too. It seems worse though with Crocs. Im thinking I might go out and buy another pair soon-maybe the sandal type if I can find it locally!

Hey TwoCat-I just noticed you were from Arlington Heights (once). I grew up in Naperville and travelled your way for swim meets every summer. Small world!

BIRKENSTOCKS all the way. I have been wearing them for a while and like to wear them in the winter (we still get lots of snow). Last trip DH, DD & DS also wore them. We had not feet problems. What I like about wearing sandals is that your feet is get air. Good luck in your decision! ::MinnieMo

I leave in 24 days- where is the best place to buy the Nile style Crocs to make sure they get to me in time?? I think they look the least dorky and I really want sandals to wear in the parks :)

I just ordered a pair from extreme foot wear and I got them in 3 days. I only paid 3 0r 4 dollars for the 2 to 3 day shipping... the colors are a bit limited, I think that there are only 4 to choose from but I am really happy with mine ( nile crocs, black). So I would check out that web site. Hope this helps.

I'm a Crocs convert! I've been wearing mine for about 2 months and now the whole family has their own. I even conviced DH to wear them to the parks. His are black and don't look too obvious.

I've purchased 5 pairs on eBay. My first pair was Niles, but everyone now has the Beach. Note that 2 of the 5 pairs are a different brand "Holey Soles". They are EXACTLY like the Crocs both in feel and look. I swear they are made in the same plant from the same shoe mold they are so much alike. I ended up with the Holey Soles because the Crocs are in such limited supply.

So if anyone is at Disney the week of 5/14, were the family with the strange looking matching shoes in blue, yellow, purple, and black! Strange looking shoes are a very small price for comfy feet!!!!

I got my crocs today from Zappos. They were too big and wide. I got them in butter Size S. I looked like I had Donald Duck feet  . I am sending them back to exhange for XS in pink. Do you find they run big?

It is funny that you mention them running big because I got a pair of the beach in a 7 and I have alot of extra room in them, so I almost bought my nile crocs in a 6 but decided that I may need the extra room for my feet swelling being pregnant and all. Well I just got them in yesterday and they just fit...no room for swelling that is for sure! They a just a hair shy of being too small!!! But we leave in four days so looks like I am going to have to make do with what I have. Did anyone else find that the nile ran different?

Arg-

I was about to get my Nile Crocs from Extreme Footwear in black but they only have odd sizes (5, 7, 9, 11). I am a size 10 normally although in sandals I am sometimes a 9. I was going to get the 9's but now I am totally not sure.

It's free shipping here but I would have to pay return shipping if they dont fit- is it still worth it? Should I try to find them in the 10??

(Will the black be too hot?)

I just ordered the sea blue Nile Crocs from Extreme Footwear - all I've seen in the stores is the clog style so I was thrilled when I went on the croc website and spotted these!! I'm a little uncertain about the color because the croc website shows a paler shade of blue on their website which I like but when you click on the order link it shows it as a much deeper, brighter blue...guess I'll have to wait and see (on Extreme it's shown as the paler shade also). I paid the extra $3.85 for priority shipping so I'll have time to exchange them if necessary since we leave in 2 weeks.

I don't know if this is any help to you but on the Croc website it says the clog style run big but the Niles run true to size.
