crocs in financial trouble

I too can't figure out why some people find that these are uncomfortable. These are the ONLY shoes that don't kill my feet at WDW. I get bad heel pain after a day at the parks and Crocs are the only shoes I've had that don't give me that heel pain. I'm wondering if the people who don't like them have bought the wrong size.

I will have to go to the Crocs outlet here and get a few more pairs before anything happens to the company.

I too wonder regarding people finding them uncomfortable. I have severe plantar faciatis, and they are some of the ONLY shoes I can wear for extended periods, including miles and miles at Disney, with little to know foot pain.

I think you may have hit on something regarding people not buying the correct size. They are not supposed to fit like regular shoes. Your foot should not touch the sides etc. I see a lot of folks that wear them, and they almost appear to be form fitting, i.e., WAY too small.

I have tried to help by buying 5 pairs in the last month... To each their own regarding Crocs. I once was a hater, now am a wearer. They are the only shoes I take to WDW.

FYI-my nieces got a NASTY foot fungus last year and the doctor told them it was from wearing knock off Crocs. She told them the "real deal" were fine because of the Croslite material that they are made of, but the cheapies are not healthy for feet.

Yay Crocs:worship:-they are great for me. Even my husband requested a pair (after wearing mine all the time)

...in a few more pairs! :thumbsup2

Add me to the list of people that have found Crocs to be the only shoe I can wear for miles and miles without problems with my feet...and my lower back. Yes, I could probably buy $250 orthopedic insoles for my shoes...but that buys a whole lotta Crocs, lol.

No shoe is for everyone, fit- or fashion-wise, but I think that many who have tried them and hated them have not had the fit correct; the sides of your feet and the ends of your toes shouldn't touch the shoe. Your feet should "float" in the shoe. Also the "nubbies" on the insole can really bother sensitive feet...which I cure by wearing socks.

And knock-offs? No way! I'm a Crocs snob! :snooty: (They feel the best!)

I'm a crocs snob too. I tried wearing my $130 Nike to WDW the first day I was there last time and that was all it took. My crocs stayed on my feet the entire time. I will say that where they are made makes a HUGE difference though. I have Mickey crocs that I refuse to wear because they are hard (yep they are real). My originals that were actually made in Colorado are the best. I just hate how slick they are when they are wet. I've fallen more than once after walking the dog in the rain.

They should have just stuck with the regular crock and maybe the flip flop - they started making too many types.

They had to, Crocs are a fad, they must change or people will not continue to buy. Although some have multiple pairs, most people bought one pair and that was it. To get that person to buy another pair you must make another style. Listen it is not like Nike made the Air Max and then just quit, no they have to put out different styles to keep people buying.

AGREED! The ones we have made in CO and Canada are great, but the ones made in Mexico & China? Not so good.

I'm not sure why some people find them uncomfortable. Do you have high arches? I have flat feet and even though I agree they are extremely ugly, I'll never wear anything other than Crocs to WDW again. Well, unless the company folds and I can't buy them.

Crocs may be a bit of a fad because of the quirky style, but I think most people wear them because of the comfort. I know I do.

If they could only make shoes that were nicer looking, but still as comfortable, I think they'd sell a lot more.

They hurt my calves and my feet. I am not flat footed. I have a high arch. Maybe that is why they don't work for me. I love my sneakers and will only wear them at WDW. I use the Crocs as slip on shoes to get the mail in or go into the basement or garage.

I have high arches, and plantar faciatis, and wide feet. They are the first shoe I ever wore to Disney World (or anywhere else with a lot of multiple day walking) without any blisters. And my DH who also has plantar faciatis swears by them too.

I have to agree that from reading this board, I know that (ugliness aside) they are not for everyone. My DD got blisters when she tried to wear them to Disney World a couple years ago (beaches, and she has narrow feet), and she will never wear them again in any form.

I love my Keens but with my wide feet the Crocs are the most comfortable thing I own. Guess I will make room in the suitcase for a couple more pair when we go to WDW this weekend.

DH has that and just uses Dr. Scholl's inserts in his sneakers and shoes. He had done this for more than a year and no longer has any of the PF symptoms. This is what our Dr. recommended he do. He always gets a new insert when he gets new sneakers or shoes.

I always wear high end New Balance (recommended by foot Drs) with the special sole inserts.

I found that walking in my bare feet was more comfortable than Crocs.

We both tried Dr. Scholl's inserts and didn't help either of us at all...I think people's feet are different and what works for one will not work for someone else. I couldn't even find a pair of New Balance I could stand to walk in in the store trying them on...I tried them because I heard so many people here swear by them. I also hear people swear by Chacos (killed my feet after an hour and that was at home!) and Tevas...they also did not work for me. I wear Crocs and Keens. Both of them work for me.

I guess everyone's feet are different. For many people, they are the most comfortable shoes they've ever owned. Personally, I tried expensive shoes that were supposed to be specifically designed for pronators with flat feet and were picked and fit with the help of the owner of a specialty footwear shop, who seemed to know what he was doing. They felt great when I was walking or running, but standing in one place for more than 2 minutes caused me pain and after a day at the parks, I was ready to have someone chop my feet off because they hurt so bad. I've also tried Nike's, New Balance, Tevas, and a couple other brands and I've tried various insoles. None of them helped me nearly as much as my $25 pair of Crocs.

People keep saying they were a fad and I guess in some ways, it might look like that. There was quite a buzz because of their unique style and "cool" ugliness. But there are a ton of people who bought them and continue to buy them because they are super comfortable.

I think there will continue to be a very solid market for them, but it sounds like maybe they did grow too fast because of all the hype and now that the hype has died down, sales have gone back down to a level where they can't make a profit because they are too big of a company. Even if the company goes bankrupt, it seems like there's still a good chance they could survive as a smaller reorganized company.

With NB you have to get the 800s or higher. That is what the foot Drs recommend. I wear the 1000s or 1100s.

I wear size 12 4E and it is next to impossible to get my feet into the classic style crocs (and we won't talk about comfort). I do like their flip flops, just have to buy a size 13 and it isn't too bad.

I wonder if this is the reason that I can't find any colors but black, brown and navy for my DS9? He's in an adult small. I checked the Bon Ton and Dicks and they both had really crummy selections!! Barely any colors at all.
Try ShoeBuy.com, I've almost always found what I wanted there and I own about 7 different style crocs, including heels.

My theory is that it has nothing to do with knock-offs (which in most cases are a very poor substitute) and everything to do with too much expansion and a bad economy. There is a mind numbing number of Crocs styles now. I suspect that had they stuck to the original styles they had there would be less debt and less risk of going under. Innovation and growth can be a two edged sword. Luckily I just picked up a new pair of Disney crocs to replace my Caymans that were practically worn through.

I wholeheartedly agree with you.

I am a newly obsessed crocs fan. I just bought my DD6 6 pairs and plan on getting her more! She was born with basically no arch in her feet. My grandma has the same feet. She could never walk long before her feet hurt. I found crocs on clearance so I decided to try them for her...well, that was that...she will no longer wear anything else! I am so happy that she can finally walk for shopping trips and Disney and the like without her little feet hurting her. Plus, I think she looks adorable in them!

I refuse to believe this. I just discovered crocs last year and became and instant addict. I have purchased 10 pairs for the family in the past year. I do prefer the flip flops though. I even just broke down and ordered real mammoths ( they should be waiting when I get home today) I made me and the kids test out the mammoth knock offs just to make sure that we would actually wear them and not leave them in the closet-I can't get the kids or myself out of them

There is no such thing as 'going out of business' anymore. Can you say, Bailout.

But what will my feet wear to WDW?!

I don't want to go back to socks and sneakers ::shudders at the thought::
