After reading about Crocs here I bought a pair of Athens. Just wanted to let anyone who might be interested for their own trip that I wore them every day for 11 days to Disneyworld.

I used the Body glide on the bottom on my feet & it was great! No blisters & I could walk all day. The flip flops where great when it rained since they dryed off right away. I had packed 2 other pairs of shoes to switch off & on but I didn't need them..

Croc athens + Body Glide = :teeth: me!

Great!!

I don't own the Athens Crocs. I haven't seen them in any stores around here, only online.

I'd really like to try the Athens. I may have to buy and see how they go.

I own Cayman and Nile. I like both of those.

Tried (& returned after test-driving one afternoon in my house) the athens, disappointing IMO.

Even though I have several pairs of crocs, including the niles - which I seem to trip in for some reason:confused3 ; I gave them a shot.

The thong part that goes between your toes is sooooo thick, it was really uncomfortable for me & I'm used to wearing thongs during the summer.

When I first bought them they felt the same way for me too. You have to wear them for a few days and they will break in and feel even better. The thing between your toes even breaks in and gets better.

Any stores sell them? I can only find the BEACH model and the ones that look like the Beach model without holes in them. I want a pair of Athens for our upcoming trip, and even tried on a pair of "Croc-Offs" (fake Crocs) that were the same style as the Athens but I hated them! But then again I hated the fake Beach ones too and I have TWO pair of Croc Beaches at home.

Also, when the Athens get wet, do they make that AWFUL squeeky sound that the Beach ones do when they get wet?

AND......is Body Glide the same as the Monistat anti-chafe powder-gel? I LOVE the Monistat powder-gel. it was a godsend on our honeymoon last year for the ever-chafed inner thighs! You must use this stuff if you tend to rub or chafe anywhere. It goes on in a gel, and dries almost instantly like an invisible powder.

I wore my Athens Crocs all summer and will probably keep wearing them until the snow comes, LOL. I purchased a pair of Niles and they are the most uncomfortable shoes ever. I got blisters on my pinkies the first day and have not worn them since (and no, I did not wear them on my hands, but my feet). I have seen the Athens in a store, but it was the Crocs store at Orlando International Airport.

LOVE the Athens!!!! :cool1: I had the knock off ones from Payless, and they were just okay. Then I got the Athens! I got them for our October trip, Once I got them, I couldn't use the Payless ones at all! I have worn the Athens almost every day for the past month. Can't wait to try them at WDW!!

"Croc athens + Body Glide = :teeth: me!"

Me too!!! We've been going to WDW since 1990 and I get horrible blisters every trip after the first day. Not this trip! Nothing. Nada. Don't know if it was the Croc Athens or the Body Glide but either way they'll both be traveling with me the next trip. :)

I don't like flip flops but absolutely LOVE the Crocs Athens! :teeth: I'm going to have to find that Body Glide stuff just for curiousity sake.
I usually don't wear sandals due to a high instep (and chubby feet) but these are incredibly comfortable and don't even bother me when I'm retaining water.
I might wear them until it snows as well. :teeth: :thumbsup2

Don't know if they have them in your area, but Dicks carries them in their retail stores, they do have an on-line site too.

I do like the payless knock off's of the athens (hate their beach version - nothing @ all like the originals IMO), got 2 pair of them beginning of the season. Only complaint is they don't clean up nicely like the crocs do.

Dick's sporting goods, Journeys, and Hallmark stores in my area all sell Crocs.
Even the Athen's flip-flops.

Yes the Athens make a terrible squeaky noise when wet. But they do feel good to wear. I wore my beaches I bought 2 days before we went last month. I also used the bodyglide, Newbies to body glide beware, The first time you use the body glide and crocs. It is a very weird feeling, the body glide makes your feet all slippery in the crocs. It only last for a little while though. I thought it was a small trade off for no blisters. My DS wore his Athens the entire 5 days we were there and never complained once. :thumbsup2

I just bought the "watermelon" color.. :goodvibes pink bottom/ LIME green base and thong part!!

I was surprised at how "slippery" they felt compared to my boring Blue flip flop crocs... I could feel the 'bumps' but I was surprised, after on hour or so, they were well broken in!!

1. My blue flips the part that went between the toes was too big, so I had my son take his drimel and sand it down, very gently, not too much (he nicked one too much) and it worked wonders!! :goodvibes No problem on the watermelon crocs...

2. athens, niles... beach, cayman... my head is spinning... My ankles turn in, ie pronate... so the Niles ( the crocs that dont have the flip flop, but arent as ugly as the beach and cayman style) sandle like - where the back hits the front is where my ankle turns and I get a blister... body glide wouldnt help

3.. I have used body guide for other places that may rub... :rolleyes1 BUT have never needed it on my feet... (I think I got mine at sportmart for around $7 it comes in a deodrant looking container btw)

I love my Athens except the bottom tread wore down VERY quickly and I need to get another pair for our Dec. trip.

They took a little while to break in I did have a blister on the side of one foot above my arch, the strap sits in a different place from all my gazillion pairs of flippys.

Now broken in and worn out :sad2: the only drawback to the steep price is they don't last long.

I have seen the Athens at: Sports Authority (Frmly Garts), Dillards & Sportsmans Warehouse - I bought mine at a mall kiosk in San Francisco at the Market St. Mall.

I got the Athens acouple weeks ago and have been wearing them every day (I got them for my trip in 14 days!!!!) I love them, they are so comfortable. I didn't think of wearing the body glide, THANKS for reminding me about putting it on my packing list..(Nope, haven't started packing yet, what is wrong with me?? :teeth: )

I got a regular pair of Crocs (I'm sorry, the style name left me, but they are the regular ones) And I'm alittle bit nervous about those for my trip..Actually, I'm not used to wearing closed-toe shoes, (even in winter I wear backless, I hate sneakers) and my toes feel alittle clausterphobic! I think I'll try the bodyglide with them, too.

I've never heard of Body Glide. Is it really that good at preventing blisters on feet?

I got my in Sport Authority for $29 a few months before I went to WDW. I wore them alot to break them in but they were very comfy from the beginning.

Yes, they do squeak when wet.

No body glide is found in sporting stores but it is made for chaffing so the monistat stuff should work the same. I got the Body Glide in Dick''s Sporting Goods.

Well I can only report that it did for me. This was the happiest my feet have ever been walking in Disneyworld on any of my previous trips so that is why I posted the message in case anyone was wondering if it worked (Wow that was a run on sentence if i have ever seen one! :rotfl2: )

Anyway, I think the combo of the body Glide & the crocs were perfect. The Body Glide does feel squishy as soon as you put it on but goes away when it dries. By the way I also put it on my girls feet. They both wear the kids crocs beach & they also had not blisters (the little one always gets blisters!)

I've had the brown/blue athens for about 6 months now and LOVE them!! they're pretty much all I ever wear and I didn't really have a problem breaking them in (although one did give me a blister on the inside of my toe where the thong rubbed). They've been all over disney and a disney cruise.

I used to have a pair of the Roots flip flops that Crocs sold, those lasted 2 years of constant wear until I finally killed on Castaway Cay in January....

Count me as another who wears flips all year long
