Crocs apparently don't handle gasoline well...

Feel my pain! I was filling up my car (painful enough) and the auto shutoff did not work and gas overflowed and soaked my crocs (and pants and socks). I used Dawn detergent but I think it is a lost cause. They are an older pair so I need to get some new ones anyway. Anyone know of any Croc deals out there?

Yeah, I drive a school bus and I don't wear mine on days when I'm fueling. There is always a big puddle of fuel and it breaks them down.

I saw some for 50% off at Dillards a couple weeks ago. That's the cheapest I've seen them.

keep them away from campfires too. My DS had one 'fall' into the campfire, to be rescued by his uncle- it was shrunk up and had little bitty holes in it. Although it was interesting to see. . .perhaps a science fair project in the making!!

Piperlime has some crocs on sale. Not as good as 50% off a Dillards, but they do have free shipping.

Did you notify the gas station attendant of the situation? My DH was filling my car when the auto shutoff didn't work. Gas went everywhere even though he was there with it. They filed a report and had me take my car to get it washed. The gas can eat through the paint. I think that if clothes and shoes got damaged, they should replace those too.

It was at a Kangaroo Express and I did tell them. The woman said thank you for telling them so they could take care of it but I never thought to ask for car to be washed nor did they offer. A co-worker called her husband when she heard what happened because he had the same thing happen 2 days before- her husband told her it was the same station!

Also another warning about Crocs...... When the tread wears out be very careful in the rain. I have had some near falls in my crocs, be careful walking on anything painted on the ground.

Not only when the tread wears out, I have had some near falls with brand new ones on! They are very slippery in the rain on certain surfaces... I found this out in EPCOT...

Mine was at a quick trip and they told me to get it washed. I would call and talk to the manager since you weren't the only one to report the faulty shut off. That could cause a serious problem. They should have come out immediately to put something on the gas spill for safety reasons! We can't afford to waste gas like this and guess who gets the bill for over filling!

Good luck if you try to pursue it in any way.

The Crocs specialists are slip resistant. I just ordered some for work ;-) Did a little research, apparently bathroom stick ons can be used on the bottoms for slip resistance on regular crocs.

I don't get the whole "Croc" thing. I have seen kids at the park playing with those things on their feet and they are always slipping off of them. I just don't think they are very safe. Comfortable I hear, ugly they are (don't hurt me).

I am very sympathetic, perhaps empathetic - the strap broke off one of my tan Crocs today. I don't actually use the strap so I can rip off the other one and still wear them, but I am still thinking this is an excellent excuse to buy a new pair....

Maybe even a Disney pair! :cool1:

shoebuy.com is the best place to buy them free shipping use coupon code 15% off ENT-BOOK-15

I left a Croc fllip flop - just the left one - in my truck over a really hot weekend, and it SHRUNK! I was floored! I pulled it out and tried to put my shoes on, and the one that had been in the trunk is about 2 inches smaller than the right foot! I had no idea that could happen!

I also agree about the slipping problems. I've almost bit the dust many times. i like the idea of the slip resistant bathtub things - might try that. Depending on what Gustav does, it may be a wet trip.
