I am going to a potluck for about 30 plus people. We won t be eating right away. I am looking for a recipe that I can make and keep warm in a crockpot for a couple of hours before it is eaten.
Anyone have any recipes, ideas?
Thanks!!

I have made crockpot mac and cheese and I would bring something else. Its good, but you still have to watch it.

I would suggest meatballs or some type of a meat like pulled pork or sloppy joe.

2 cans of cream style corn
2 cans of whole kernel corn (not drained)
2 sticks of butter or margarine
2 lbs of velveeta cheese
2 cups of uncooked macaroni
1/2 cup milk

Put it all in a large crockpot and cook on high for approx. 4 hours. I have made this for every church function for the last 2 years because everyone loves it and requests it.
You can add a little more milk if needed towards the end of cooking time.

I like Rival's (the maker of the Crock Pot) recipe best. I only make it for parties because it's too good...I'd eat the whole darn thing if I made it at home.

Only 2 cups of uncooked macaroni? About how many servings would this make? I've got to try this at the next pot luck....

I'd make chili. Mac n cheese isn't good for me unless it's crusty from the oven. Just me.

Someone else is bringing chili, sausage and potatoes, meatballs. I was trying for a warm side dish as it will be on a cold day and eaten After several hours outside.

Beans-Yuk!! Sorry, I don't like them. :)
Applesauce? Hmmmmm. But I think someone is bringing cider

Okay no beans-I don't love them either :rotfl: but the guys in my family love them.

How about buffalo chicken dip-not really a side dish- but delish.

I make my mac and cheese the same regardless of whether for the overn or crockpot.

After draining the macaroni, I add enough milk to cover it. I pepper it pretty good. I add white and yellow American cheese (almost two times as much white as yellow), a little flour to thicken it and cook it on low. You can add salt to taste but usually the salt from the cheese is nearly enough. If you have a couple of hours before eating, you could cook it in the interim.

Turns out creamy, similar to Velveeta, but I like the taste of the American cheeses more.

This recipe sounds to good to be true. Can I ask how much macaroni you use and how much total cheese? Thanks

Welove crock pot mac& cheese and someone always brings it . One idea is to start it two hours before you get here and let it cook the last two hours at the party and it is ready just as you are ready to eat.

phred52 yes the recipe says 2 cups. I double checked because I have made it so many times that I don't use the recipe. I use 2 generous cups, it makes a large crockpot full. I'm sorry I don't know how many servings that is.

thanks. going to try the paula dean recipe this afternoon for dinner.:cool1:

Thanks. I'm going to try this on Friday. Getting hungry just thinking about it!

I have a few weeks before the party so I will try a few of these to see which one works best.

Thanks!!

We tried this today and it was good, but a little too cheesy for us. I think next time I'll cut back to maybe 1 1/2 lbs of Velveeta.

I didn't have either, but thought it would have been good with a tomato or some crispy bacon. I'm going to add some canned tomato to the bowl I take for lunch tomorrow.
