How do Welcome Home stays work?

If you buy less than the 150 point blue card purchase, can you still get a welcome home stay?

If you can, are you allowed to combine the purchased points with the points you already have?

I’m wondering what my chances are of being able to snag a 3 bed from cash inventory that is currently fully booked on DVC. The trip falls within the 7 month travel window.

Welcome home is something that has been provided to new purchasers from DVD who are not already members, e.g., I have never seen it mentioned that an existing member who purchases new points (and an exisitng member can purchase as low as 25 points) can do a welcome home stay, under which DVC can get a room based on DVD's own ownerships, e.g.. one can get a reservation for an upcoming time even if they are shown as already filled for exisitng members.

Yep.

Nope. But you can borrow points from the upcoming year for the booking or use banked points from that contract if you don’t get MB and banked points.

Yes existing members can get it on new add on direct purchases. I have done it twice.

So you buy your contract and then call members services after and tell them you want to book your welcome home stay.

Im not sure how easy it is at all of the resorts, but they were able to book me d23 weekend in a deluxe studio at vdh which is completely sold out.

At first they told me it wasnt available, but then I was on hold for about a half hour and they pulled inventory for me. It was around the 7 month mark so I felt it was also a reasonable request

So id say chances of getting what you want is good except for the resorts that are blocked (grand flo and grand cali) and the vdh grand villa they wont do.

And yes you can currently be a member and get this as I just did
