Crockpot and Easy Meals "Index post 372"

They make crock pot liners that are wonderful. They are kind of like the turkey bags. Reynolds makes them and they are with the plastic wraps. You just put one in the pot and then add the ingredients. When you are done you just pull the bag out and throw away. All your crock pot will need is a quick swipe with a sponge and it will be pristine.

Those sound wonderful....I will have to look for them next time I'm in town. Are they tall enough that they wouldn't fall down into the pot it you are making a full pot of chili and have people in and out of it all day?

They wrap over the top of my big oval 6qt and my tall bowl 6qt grock pot. i think they are about the best thing since sliced bread.

I second that. I just did a huge crockpot of Taco Soup, filled to the rim, and the liner held up beautifully. They are big enough to fold over the sides so they won't fall in.

Here is the easy peasy way I clean my crockpot. I empty all of the contents, and then fill it up with water and pop in a dishwasher gel tab. Turn it on for about an hour. All the stuck on gunk comes right off.

Another thumbs up for the crockpot liners. They are great & I use my crockpots so much more (I have 3) since I discovered them.

My contribution is beer bratwurst. Take 2pkgs of Johnsonville Brats (or any thin-skinned bratwurst) & brown them in a skillet. You don't have to cook them through, just brown the outsides. Put them in a crockpot (you can stack them) & pour a bottle of German beer over them (I like Paulaner but Warsteiner is good as well). Cook them on low all day. We eat them like hot dogs with sauerkraut or wtih no bun & a good mustard to dip them into. Everyone loves them & the leftovers are even better.

Wow!!! All these recipes...sounds yummy!!! I haven't used the liners...but I do spray mine with Pam or something similar. Cleans up real nicely.

I agree on the crockpot liners. They are a staple in our house cause it makes life easier.

That brat recipe sounds yummy!!!!! I think I might do that on Superbowl Sunday.

Made the chicken with black beans, corn, and salsa in the crockpot. Didn't add the cream cheese. DD hates mexican food, but loved it. Ate the leftovers for lunch. it was a bit dry so next time I don't think I'll drain the corn. Served it over rice. Cheap and oh so easy

I made this last week. I will be honest I loved it until I added the cream cheese. It just was to rich with it for us.

You mentioned that yours was a bit dry. I added a small can of creamed corn to mine which worked really well. I just wanted to give you this option instead of not draining the corn.

I've got the smothered meatloaf in my crock pot right now. Our store was completely out of Cheddar Cheese soup so I got a can of Nacho Cheese instead. I also added about a half a sleeve of cracker crumbs to help stiffen it up a little. It was just too sticky and loose to try to form a ball.

I have never used/bought shake and back before so wasn't sure what to get. I think I wound up getting a parmesan flavored one.

I sprayed my pot with Pam first (didn't hear about the liners until after I was home) . Hopefully the Pam will help a little bit.

I will let you know how this is received. I tried meatloaf in the crockpot once before and it didnt work out so well. Plus my youngest son especially is very particular about his meatloaf - I usually make it with a lot of ketchup.....this doesn't have any so it will be interesting to see how he "adusts" to the different flavor.

Wow this thread just made me really hungry! I found that crockpotting blog once as well and loved it then forgot about it! Some great recipes to try here. I've found us using our crockpot only as a shredded BBQ pork maker lately and this will definitely give us some new recipes to try!

I have a funny story about this recipe, I made this last Sunday for dinner, I add bread crumbs to stiffen it up, anyway my ds11 thinks he does not like meat loaf so I told him it was chopped steak.:rotfl2: He loved it:lmao: I'm so good:surfweb:

chicken and dumplings would be great. Does anyone know which post this was on? It would be wonderful to have an Index on the first post. OP?:lovestruc

In the crockpot right now I have 2 lbs of boneless chicken breast, 1 bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's Honey BBQ sauce, 2 gloves garlic minced, and one small can of pineapple chunks. 30 minutes before serving I will add a chopped green pepper. Going to serve it over white rice with some veggies on the side!
Can't wait!

I made the chicken/black bean/corn recipe this weekend. It was YUMMY! However, a few people have mentioned the chicken was dry...mine was so soupy there was no way for the chicken to be dry. :) I drained everything as listed. My only thing is did I put too much salsa in? I thought it said a 15oz jar (which I didn't put all of it in...it looked like too much). Any thoughts? It was perfect for "fancy nachos" the way it was. Excellent taste (especially loved the addition of the cream cheese).

I had to go back and find it too!! Here it is from the previous post:

I also made this Chicken and Dumpling recipe the other day and it was amazing!

Slow Cooker Chicken N Dumplings
3-4 chicken breasts (I use Perdue fit n easy with all fat trimmed off)
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/4 cup onion diced or you can use minced onion (about 2 tbsp)
1 chicken bullion cube
1 and 1/4 cup water
1 large can of homestyle biscuits

Combine everything (except biscuits) into slow cooker and cook on low for 5-6 hours
30 minutes before serving tear biscuit dough into pieces and add to cooker. I usually up the heat to high for the last 30 minutes.
It is absolutely tender and delicious! Almost as good as Cracker Barrel.
