Crock pot Pot roast question

Dumb me. Loaded up the crockpot this morning w/ my vegies, and roast, but forgot to turn it on. Came home from church and had no good smells when we hit the door.
I usually put it on low for around 7 hours. I turned it on high when we got home around 1. I figure 4.5 hrs on high, but worried that it will not be as tender. What do you all think?

I'm second guessing that I should have just stuck it in the fridge and started over tomorrow morning.

I would be afraid to use it after it was sitting out at room temperature fir a few hours. How long was it out?

Oh, I'm not worried about that. Came straight out of the fridge at 11, and was still cold at 1 when we got home.

I did boneless beef ribs and potatoes a couple of weeks ago on high for 4 hours - just don't peek as you loose a lot of heat quickly.
I think you should be fine, it may not be quite as tender as low and real slow but certainly I would think perfectly edible.

i think you should be fine at 4.5 hours on high. could go 5 if you really wanted and aren't starving.

just don't leave it on over night like my hubby did a few months ago. i came in the kitchen and the red light was blaring in the dark the next morning....the roast was black and hard as a rock!

I am sure they will be fine. It is a little late but I usually cook my roasts at 250 in the oven for about 4-5 hours and they are falling apart then.

The roast should be done, but anytime I try to High cook my potatoes, they usually are still a little firm. They're edible, but just a little firmer than I like.

Other than that, I think it'll be fine.
