My good friend Minnster22 is at the Boardwalk right now and I need some help. I can't wait till she comes home, so I must turn to you all for some help!

A fellow that we work with, wants to take advantage of the new 7 for 5 deal that Disney just announced, as he did last year. But this time he'd like to stay in one of the studios at Beach Club or the Boardwalk. This would be a CRO reservation, he doesn't own DVC and he's not renting points from a member either. (I think it's dumb, but what do I know!! :) )

If he books through CRO, a studio at the Boardwalk or Beach Club, what type of view would he get? Whatever they give him? or can he request a certain view, or do they always give the "cash" customers a preferred view?

Any info would be helpful...thanks in advance...you are my hero's!

Cash customers that book through CRO/WDWTC may get assigned to any view. As far as CRO is concerned there is no such thing as standard view or preferred view for either BWV or BCV cash customers. Your friend could end up anywhere - just depends on how the room assigner works it out. If he checks in early, he may even be given a choice of rooms that are "ready now". No guarantees as that depends on occupancy.

Certainly, your co-worker can make requests. He would just have CRO add them to his reservation. I'm sure you will tell him that requests are not guaranteed - they are just "requests".

HTH.

Thanks CarolMN...that's what I thought, but I thought that I had read somewhere (who knows where!) that they always got preferred view...Oh, well, So I'm a little confused..hope you can help. I'm still trying to talk him into renting points..he's a bit scared! Thanks again...debbi

If you book through CRO's online system, they always book BWV as standard. The description says parking lot view.

I'm sure Disney does that to avoid any unrealistic expectations. Since standard view rooms are so popular with DVC members, I believe most, if not all cash customers do end up with a preferred view room at BWV. Of course, IMHO, some of the standard view rooms are better than a lot of the preferred view rooms. From reading your posts, I think you would agree. :teeth:

Pooh's Pal - If your co worker wants a BW view, his/her best Since BW view is now a guaranteed category for DVC members, the chances of getting a BW view with a CRO reservation are very small, IMHO. To repeat, cash customers may certainly make requests. They may or may not get them. (The same applies to DVC members using points). If he/she would be happy with a pool/garden view, great! That's by far, the most likely view he/she would receive at BWV. I don't have experience with BCV views, but I've really not heard of anyone getting a "bad" view over there.

BWV is the only DVC resort that has more than one category of "views". All the others, including BCV, have just one.

In short, there is no reason to believe that a guest will get a bad view just because he/she is a cash customer. IMHO, there are very, very few rooms at BWV (or BCV) that have a view that everyone agrees is "bad". Believe it or not, there are some people who do not like the BW views at BWV!

Best wishes -

And in addition to that, there are some folks who will find fault with ANY view they get.

Well I've gotten several bad views when staying at the BWV. The one behind the coaster slide comes to mind...like looking at the back of a utility shed and a lonnnnng walk from lobby. The standard view rooms in my opinion are really much prettier than a fair amount of preferred view rooms. Unless I can get Boardwalk view I always request standard view if its available...never had a bad view there in four stays.

I agree on both counts! I think by booking cash reservations as standard, they are free to assign any open room. I mentioned it because I didn't want anyone to think they were automatically in the preferred category by booking through CRO.
