Went to Costco to return something today and got 61. in cash back. Stuck it in my jeans pocket, and headed over to BJ's to grocery shop. While picking up some bread, I dropped the $ out, but didn't realize it. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a worker look at me , look around quick, and stuff some cash in his pocket. I looked at him thinking, some poor person has dropped their cash and this guy's got it. I walked out of the aisle and two minutes later figured I better check the cash in my pocket, not thinking at all that it would've fallen out. All I've got in there are my cards, change, and some lint....checked the other pocket...checked coat pockets...starting to freak out a bit now. Since I wasn't carrying a purse and didn't stop anywhere else in between, it was a safe bet that the worker had picked up my cash. I went back to the section where I had seen him, and he was there. I wasn't 100% sure everything was as I thought it, so I said something like, "I just dropped some $ over here". I figured if he was an honest person, he would've said, "I did find some cash...how much was it?" My answer would've confirmed it was mine. But instead, he says, "Where, lets go look for it". I say he found it, and he looks at me blankly. I then straight out tell him I saw him pocket it, so he pulls it out of his pocket, and mumbles that he was going to hand it in to his manager later. Yeah, right. Even if he was truly innocent and didn't see me drop it, when I said I lost $, he was going to help me "look" for it. Thank goodness I saw him stuff it in his pocket, or I'd be SOL. I know its partly my fault for dropping it, but come on.... I stepped aside and count it after he handed it to me, to make sure it was actually my cash, in the exact increments I had, and it was. I am not a perfect person, but this seems blantantly dishonest to me, and it left me feeling uneasy.
