Something Hotch said, (Okay, I hang on every word Hotch says, ) where something is off about Lyle being the one to do it, I think he's right.

I think the DAD killed the girls. They showed a picture of Lyle with some guy. Maybe he's gay. Being gay, for a black guy, is the worst thing to be (according to them.) They still aren't allowed to come out. Maybe the Dad thought he could just work his "gay" out of Lyle. And he shoved some girls at him and made him take testosterone to boost him being a straight male.

Did they even have DNA testing 35 years ago? How would they have that dead guys DNA on file?

DNA testing started in 1984. But I'm sure they kept evidence-clothing, weapons, etc.-that would have had DNA on it, and they don't need much to test anymore. So it's possible that 35 yr old evidence could give them DNA proof.
