Cricut

Okay hope, you and I can do a swap.

I traded Speaking of Winter and Speaking of Fall with ohMom for her accent cart, but now that my DH went and bought the Expressions for me, I don't need two.

that was a great trade

I just got my but a few weeks ago an am ADDICTIED already.

does anyone have tips on how to know how much pressure and how far the blade should be down? I can't seem to get it right. It will cut it out and there will be parts I still have to tear off or it won't cut but only halfway through the paper. HELP!

I am Cricut obsessed! I spend almost as much time on the Cricut message boards as I do on the DIS! I got the baby bug in April, told myself I didn't need the Expression, got the Expression for my birthday in August (:lmao: ), and I am the proud owner of 17 cartridges. YIKES! I am constantly looking for awesome deals on the cartridges, so much so that I haven't been scrapping much. I need to spend less time on the computer....

I'm a crazy Cricut woman! I'm on the Cricut board all the time. I just got the expression a couple of weeks ago, and still have the little bug, but don't use it anymore. My MIL uses it, though.

Actually there are 2 Expressions and 2 baby Cricuts in my dining room, and about 26 cartridges. But that's because it's me, my mom, MIL and my cousin that all use the stuff. Too fun!!!

I can not scrap without my bug!! I look back at my books before the bug and they now look so boring, LOL!! It really adds a great touch to all your work. So many possibilities!!m I am an addicted member of their MB as well under the same name as here. Drop by and say hi sometime!!

I love my bug! I've had mine for 8 months now and love it. I just got 2 more carts last week when they were on sale at Hobby Lobby so now I have 7. I might see if I can work into the budget this week another one since one of our LSS has the princess ones in stock for $70. I haven't seen them at any of the other stores around.

I have to have one of these. I used one at a scrapbooking retreat this week-end and it was amazing. They only had the cartridge that comes with the cricut and the Base Camp. I really enjoyed using it. It is the #1 item on my birthday (November) & Christmas list.

I see some of you have both the bug & the Expressions. If you were going to buy one, which one would you buy? What is the advantage of the Expressions over the Bug? It looks like it is just the size you can print. I'm a beginner scrapbooker. So far, I've only scrapped during a week-end retreat each of the last three years. It started just as a chance to spend time with my favorite cousin. This year, I really enjoyed it and wanted to spend more time at home enjoying it.

The expression lets you cut up to 12" I believe..and I believe you can rotate your image... check out the MB cricut.com they have some great answer for you there...
I'm sure one of the other buggers will be by shortly to answer some more questions for you..

I love my little bug... I'd like an expression..but I'll just have to wait on that... :)

If I had to do it over again I would probably just buy the big one but I also use mine everyday. If I were a beginner scrapper or a weekender I wold probably stick with the small one.

The big one does do a lot more and has a ton more features though, so I guess it would depend on what you want it to do.

Can you explain the features that the big one has that the little one doesn't? I know that the big one cuts 12x12 and the little one only does 5.5 x 11. What are the other features that are different? I'm trying to decide whether I just go for the $299 expression at HallmarkScrapbook or to go with the $129 original at ACMoore.

I'm almost wondering if I should get both so that I can let my daughter who is away at college borrow the little bug. She loves to scrapbook as well. Whatever I get, it (& some cartridges) will be the only birthday & Christmas gift I ask for. The only other thing I need to save my money for is Disney trips!

I love my Cricut! I just got mine last week and I have already used it on 6 layouts! I can't believe I got along fine without it before because now I couldn't part with it! I find myself using it on every single layout!!

I so know that feeling! I did a couple layouts and didn't use it and I was amazed at myself!

A few things off the top of my head:
On the little bug most of the pics are cut from top to bottom as you insert the mat, the big bug you can rotate your cut portrait style or landscape ( I haven't played with this feature a lot) my mom cut a tree 24 inches tall using the portrait feature. If you want to cut out a certain spot on the paper of a picture you can use the center feature, line up the blade on the center of the pic and cut, I did this with pics of the kids and cut them out as puzzle pieces. If you need to cut out a number of the same thing, say paper doll bodies, you can use the auto fill feature, it will tell you how many dolls you can cut out at the size you pick. The fit to page feature will automatically cut the image the size of your paper.
You can flip images too, if you need a polar bear facing left but on the cart it faces right, you can flip it to face the way you want.
those are a few thing for the big bug that the little bug doesn't have.

The big bug can also cut smaller letters and the increments are 1/4 inch not 1/2 like on the small bug.
You can also cut out shadow, charm, blackout-the different "features"-at the same time by using the mix-n-match feature. On the small bug you have to cut the shadow, wait til it's done, then press the charm and do that one, and so on. So if you already know what you need cut, the mix-n-match is a great feature.
And I love the flip option. DH is like, well, can't you just flip it after it's cut? But then the dimension cuts are on the wrong side & the sticky is on the wrong side. So the flip is great. That's how I made the palm trees for the cruise swap work.

What I really love on the big Bug is the screen that tells me what I am cutting. It makes the Mickey cartridges so much easier. Many times on the little bug I thought I would be cutting Mickey's gloves (for example) and would get something else. With the big bug it shows me on the screen what I am doing. This feature has saved me time and paper!

I have decided to start with the little bug. The deciding factor was the sale at Michaels for the Cricut Complete for $199. It includes the bug, font cartridge, celebrations paper pad, rainbow cardstock pad, paper trimmer, tool kit, spatula tool, 2 replacement blades, 3 cutting mats, power adapter & quick-start guide & manuals. I stopped and picked it up tonight.

However, I can tell that if I get seriously into scrapbooking like I'm hoping I'll probably be like many of you and just end up with two in the end!

Congrats on your bug! It is soooo much fun!
