Which one would you all get if buying now? Also what are some of the difference?

I didn't get one for Christmas so DH said he would get me one for my birthday and to start looking for a good deal now. So whenever I see it we are going to pick it up. However I don't know which one to get. Do I really need the big one? I'm not sure what all it does versus the smaller ones and then versus the create at Michaels. There are so many choices.

Thanks for everyones help.

Do you plan on making any princess from the carts? They are a pain at 5-1/2 inches. You really need to make 5-7 to keep from pulling your own hair out.
Otherwise, I'm thinking that the create has all the same functions as the expression. I would go with the less expensive machine and by the software and more carts. :)

Probably not alot of princesses since I have a little man. LOL Thats kindof what I was thinking too that I could buy more if I got the smaller machine and it would be easier to carry around.

Do I need the software? What will it do for me?

I don't have it, but lots of other people do. I'll let them explain it better. It is on my wish list.

If you can swing it, get the expression! It just gives you so many options more options than the baby bug.

I haven't really used the software for a lot yet, but love it for getting the most out of one page of paper. I also like to see what I'm cutting before I cut.

HTH!

Differing opinion here -- do you ever plan to use it to decorate? Say for a bday party. You need the expression to create something like this.

Ok I need it now. LOL I'm doing my DS party and its a Wild Animal theme. I hadn't thought of decorating with it. I'll have to keep that one in my mind.

omg Susan those are amazing. very creative! what a great idea!

Thanks. It is the only party decorating I've done. We were going to see Madagascar 2, so it was a pretty obvious theme. That big, those things are so easy to make.

I'm content with the smaller one. I'm like you, two boys, so no princesses in this house! I only use mine for scrapping, though.

Does anyone know what the create does that the regular baby bug doesn't?

The Cricut Create™ Personal Electronic Cutter combines the portability of the original Cricut® machine with the functionality of the Cricut Expression™ machine. The Cricut Create machine is the same size as the original Cricut machine, yet it allows cuts from 0.25" up to 11.5" on a 6" x 12" cutting mat. The machine also includes an eight-way directional blade, Portrait mode (to cut taller images), Fit to Page mode (to cut the largest cut possible), Auto Fill mode (to mass produce cuts), Center Point function, and Flip function. An improved display screen and sleek design add greater style and convenience.

The regular bug does none of the magenta things.

The cricuts will not let you make that cute boy in the middle of the picture.

Thanks. I guess I need to decide between the Create and the Expression.

Ok I've got another one. What is a good price on an expression? I'm going to watch for sales but I'm not even sure what a good deal would be.

Susan,
You are so creative. I wouldn't have thought to use it for that. I think that my DD that will be 4 next month needs an elmo party and I have the cartridge. Thank you!!!!!!!
Oh, and I love my expression and CDS.

I got lucky and my DH got mine when Hobby Lobby printed out a 40% coupon that forgot to put "cricut/provocraft not included". Mine ended up around $260 with tax. They are normally $399. JoAnn's has theirs for $299 right now.

I see where ACMoore has a bundle for $349. I guess thats a decent price for that then. I have a $100 GC to there from Christmas so if I contribute that then it won't be that bad for DH to get me for my birthday. Of course my birthday isn't until March but he said whenever we found a deal he'd get it. LOL
