Cricut question - using negative space

Has anyone got any experience with this?

I'd like to use the negative space over a piece of patterned paper, rather than cutting out the patterned letters and pasting them on, but I can't seem to figure out how to space the letters correctly on the cardstock piece.

What I want to say is:

This IS
Your Life
John Mxxxxx​

spaced just like that.

Make sure the "paper saver is OFF"
Using the last line as your starting point, I would try with adding four spaces to the first row, two spaces to the second row and none for the third row, unless you want a bigger border around it and then just add the appropriate number of spaces to all rows.
Play with plain paper first.

I agree - and why you are at it get Sure cuts Alot so you can use any font!!!

ok, I bought Design Studio, on sale at Michaels for $59.95. Now all I have to do is figure out how to use it. A-W-Mommy's way sounds easier!
