Hi. I have posted this before but any new ideas on how to get our mats sticky again. I have four now and am headed to a weekend retreat this next weekend. I have tried washing them but maybe not hard enough. I also bought spray glue but it seams after every cut, I have to spray them agin.:confused3

How long have you had them? After a certain point, even the repositionable adhesive spray isn't going to cut it....

Ditto to the above posters. I use baby wipes and that really gives them a boost. That combined with a fresh coat of repositional adhesive extends their life, but after a while they get gummy and the adhesive does not work anymore. Then I have to breakdown and buy new ones.

Ditto to your ditto!!!! We've found that the wipes really do a nice job before the spray adhesive - and the lovely layer of dog hair we always seem to have stuck on the mats adds so much detail to our die-cuts!!! :lmao:

I have used Quilter's basting spray. It seems to work for me. It stays sticky for about 6-8 cuts, if I don't use a textured cardstock.

I have found that baby wipes can often revitalize my mats.

Many people have posted this, so I think it must be true. It never works for me. I end up wiping off any remaining adhesive. I must be doing something wrong -- I do let my mats get really dirty, maybe I am just waiting too long.

i like to restick my mats using a very thin layer of Aileen's tack it over and over.

But first I wash and scrape off any excess glue with hot soapy water. let air dry (and sometimes this will make my mat resticky enough!)

Otherwise, I use the Tack it over and over... and a VERY thin coat.

And it needs to dry overnight, or a day or two.

Then I condition the mat by patting it with my hands, like this video shows:

Also, if you use a bone folder or a ruler to rub the paper down after it is stuck on the mat that really helps. :thumbsup2

I've tried a few of those, but what I've found works the best is the Zig wide glue stick. Like the glue pen, but much fatter. It has the blue glue gel inside. You really don't even need to clean the mat before hand. Just glide the glue over the whole mat and let it dry for about 15 minutes. I just keep using it over and over. I've used the same mat for about 4 months at least. When it gets too gunked up, start with a new mat. I can't believe how great this works, and it has saved me soo much money.

Mine don't lose their stickiness nearly as fast as they start rolling up on the sides. Once they curl up, they won't feed into the Cricut correctly. Is there a way to keep this from happening?
