Creepy CM on the phone

I just called to buy tickets for MNSSHP for our October trip, and the CM was kind of strange. He was almost a heavy breather - if he called me, and I wasn't the one calling him, I would have hung up the phone. He talked to himself throughout the call, and during silent times, he really breathed heavily into the phone. He wasn't verbally inappropriate at all, but I felt a little uncomfortable with his panting and moaning sounds. On the plus side, I purchased my tickets.

Anyone else ever get a strange person on the other end of the phone?

I've never had a creepy CM, but I have had ones with funny names (ie; Maverick, Tilly, Jib)

Funny you should mention that today...I had to call Song about a change in flight times. The guy I got on the phone was a heavy breather also!!! I think he was just really close to the phone...kinda like when we used to hold the receiver by our jaw, against our shoulder. But it was a little disconcerting.

Sounds like a Seinfeld episode. It would have given me the creeps!

Something tells me they don't use their real names....every time I call, I talk to someone with an outlandish name!

Has Disney sent their phone operations to India yet? I know they have a general practice of giving operators an American sounding "phone name". My all time favorite is calling the 800 # for Stone Mtn Georgia and getting someone with a very heavy Indian accent named Mary Lou. ;)

If he was out of Orlando I can sympathize. I'm having trouble breathing today. We have this huge dust cloud thing hanging over the area. Mix that with the heat and it is miserable.

Maybe the man has some sort of breathing problem. Disney does hire a lot of older folks, you know.

I do customer service with a Headset, and back when I still smoked--9 months and counting---I didn't realize how bad my breathing was until I heard a call--Scary. Also, I do what our monitors call--Self Talk--I talk to myself so I try really hard not to when I'm on the phone.

I thought about some kind of health issue. I am a hospice social worker, working with the terminally ill, and many have respiratory problems. I spend the majority of my day with people on oxygen concentrators. This did not sound anything like that - this was creepy heavy breathing. He also did not sound like an older guy. Most of the people I work with are 60-105 years old, and the aging voice is pretty distinct, and different from that of a younger guy, which my CM definately was.

Aside from some one's respitory issues -- what was you're problem with this person?

:confused3

The very first time I called CRO I had a really strange conversation. The cast member seemed distracted and in the middle of the call blurted out, "Linda, is that you?" like I was trying to pull off some big practical joke. I had already given my name so I said in disbelief, "What?" and she just mumbled "Nothing. Nevermind." Very odd.

It was my first time calling but I hadn't said anything strange at all. I'm glad all other Disney interactions have been great.

Uhm, the way the guy talked to himself, and then whenever he stopped talking, he started panting and moaning into the phone. It was kind of obscene. I felt like I was listening to one side of a porno. If he does have a health problem, good luck to him.

They are all assigned names, which is why you get silly names sometimes ;)

I heard about this! My friend Abra worked at Blizzard Beach and they thought her name might be hard for guests to pronounce (said like the beginning of Abraham) so they made her use her middle name for her CM nametag. :rotfl:

No heavy breathing sounds from my CM, but when I made my first ADR's for my trip I think I got the s..l..o..w..e..s..t talking CM in existence. He was super nice and I didn't have any hard to get ADR's to make (like CRT) or I probably would have had a heart attack :scared: I spent 15 minutes on the phone with the guy for one ressie for PSB. :chat:

I work on the phone a lot and I know when my allergies are acting up or when I have an sinus infection I can sound pretty bad. I naturally breath through my mouth (many adults breath from their nose) therefore I know I already am a little louder. But then, put that little headset on...which is right up against your cheek, it catches every little sound. Then, as I said, with an allergy attack or sinus infection..forget it. I can sound pretty indecent too.

Allergies are horrible in Florida today. Maybe your CM was having some sort of asthma or bronchitis problem or has the beginnings of emphysema and the dust storm is irritating and compounding the condition.

Interesting you would post this.

I spoke to a CM from Disney Travel, a female, and she, too, breathed heavy. I believe it is because their mouthpiece is too close so you can hear everything. :goodvibes

She didn't sound abnormal in her breathing, like allergies or anything; it was just like she was breathing normally but her mouthpiece was too close. :flower:
