Credits pooled in 2009?

Does anyone know if the dining credits are "pooled" in the 2009 plan as they were when we last used the plan in 2006?

What I mean is are child credits "worth" the same as adult credits? If my 8 yo DD gets sick of eating the same chicken fingers or mac-n-cheese that is on all of the kid menus at TS restaurants and wants to share the adult meal with my 11 yo Disney Adult, could we theoretically use her child credit for an adult meal somewhere down the line?

I can totally see her wanting to eat, say, DS's adult portion sirloin steak instead of the bland kid offerings.

They stopped pooling TS credits in late 2006.

CS credits appear pooled, but the cashiers are trained to only sell 2 adult meals and 1 child meal when the card says 2A/1C.

You can always share your meal with your daughter, supplement with an appetizer OOP from the adult menu.

Disney has also changed the children's TS meals so the locations include one more 'adult' offering. Spaghetti, Steak, Fish, etc.

Friendly reminder for anyone else replying - Posting system workarounds is prohibited on the DDP board.

As above, no to the pooled credits. However, on our July trip we noticed a huge improvement in the child's menu offerings. Each TS restaurant had at least one "pre-plated" child's meal that incorporated all of the basic food groups and was themed to the restaurant. At 50s Prime Time it included a chicken breast, green beans, yogurt, some sort of starch, fruit salad, and I think a dessert. At Coral Reef it was a white fish with rice, vege, etc. It was way more than most kids could eat, and the price was excellent (just in case you were paying OOP). I think they were about $9.

It was on the level that I even commented to our server about what an improvement these were. She replied that there was no way she could see a 3 year old eating all that, but for an older kid they were super.

I'm glad to know that the kids offerings are improved. Actually, after I posted my original thread, I saw something about better kids meals and went and looked for myself. Sure enough, there are better - different - offerings at the restaurants than when we were there in '06. I think she'll find something to eat wherever we end up going. That was my big worry - she's picky, but not in the usual way. She would NEVER order chicken fingers - she'd prefer to have a steak or mussels. So knowing that there are at least some more different offerings makes my task easier.

Thanks!

Another option would be to do more of the buffets - she wouldn't be restricted to the "children's" section.

I wouldn't worry about it. My DS was 9 on our last trip and he was fine with the kids meal options despite having very adult tastes. Most restaurants have at least one good kids' option - mahi-mahi at Coral Reef, penne pomodoro at Tutto Italia, steak at California Grill/Le Cellier/Yachtsman, salmon at Artist Point, several teppan-style entrees at Teppan Edo, etc. Plus at the buffets, kids can have whatever they want (DS's favorite was Tusker House). Between the better kids' entrees and occasionally sharing my entrees or appetizers (we were on the deluxe plan), he didn't get bored or sick of kids' food over 22 table service meals over our 12 day trip.

My first trip was in 2005 with the free dining. My knowledge of the TS credits being pooled then was'nt that great so we used our credits as Disney wanted us to use them.:headache: I bet this was a real hot topic issue several years ago. How long was it before Disney caught on? I am just real curious, not trying to start any trouble.

The most bizarre kids menu we ran into on our last trip was Columbia Harbour House. the whole adult menu is chicken nuggets and fried fish but the kids menu has only garden salad with (cold) chicken and mac and cheese! I remember trying to pass off cold chunks of chicken to our kids and they looked at me like I was crazy. We "wised up" after that (this was early 2007 and they were still pooling counter service).

I can tell you for a fact that the Cs cms look for this sort of thing now.Our cards said 2a 1c and they made sure that is what you got.Sometimes they allowed substitutions but not usually.i don't remember the Ts ever being pooled, but then again I didn't have kids at the time and wouldn't have noticed that sort of thing.

I'm anxiously waiting to learn if they are going to separate the CS credits in 2009... it stands to reason that they would with the new CS plan coming out... but, I haven't seen any CM posts saying that they've had training on a new system.

I am curious about this too. But there are some CS places that don't have a children's menu, so I'm not sure how the CM's would know how many adult credits and how many kids credits you are using. . . .

What they're doing is creating children's menus at more places. Toy Story Pizza Planet has one now, and there is speculation that the rest will follow suit.

Is the new menu posted anywhere? I hope that the kids pizza is as good as the adults. We've liked the restaurant because it didn't have a kids menu, and then the 6 yr old could share with his little brother saving us a bit!! :)

The Toy Story Pizza Planet Menu hasn't been updated online since the change, so that menu isn't online yet. (I believe that the change happened in October and the menus haven't been updated since August 08 (allears) and June 07 (wdwinfo))

I heard that it's the same pizza, just half the size. The upside is that they've also now added this pizza to the menu at Pizzafari so kids can finally get pizza there.

TS credits are most definitely seperate. You can not use a child credit for an adult meal, it's impossible.

CS credits in 2008 are still pooled, however, it is not like 2006 when you could order 4 adult meals even if your card stated 2A/2C.

Whether or not your child will be okay with the kids menus really depends on your child. We went when our sons were 8 and 10. 10 year old had the adult plan and our 8 year old, the kids. He was miserable. He wanted the appetizers and entrees his brother could get. Now, it has to be noted that this trip Oct 06 was the week that Disney rolled out the new "healthy" kids menu items, many of which got removed within months of their introduction. Anyone remember Just Dip It? ;) They didn't even HAVE chicken strips (unless you count the dry, tastless, skinless, broiled strips they had. Getting french fries instead of carrots or apples at Sci-Fi was impossible. AND, I was paying cash for that meal and not even using the dining plan-the CM still told me I couldn't sub fries for the apples. When I asked her if she was serious, she sighed and offered to bring over the manager. :confused3 People freaked and that didn't last long (at all). It's just unfortunate we were there at that time.

When we went the following year, even though he was 9, we paid for him to get the adult dining plan (we had to pay for an adult park ticket too) by aging him 1 year. The CM that did it, says it happens all the time. This trip was much, much better. He was very happy with his food choices everywhere we ate. My DD 6 was happy with the kids choices.

This May, he really is 10 so, both boys are on the adult deluxe plan. Yeah! Everyone can order what they want-mussels, filets, etc.

I would be shocked if Disney did not seperate the adult and child CS credits this year with the new dining plan for CS out. I'm sure they know of different tatics used with the CS options as well.

We ate there on our last trip in Nov. It was about 5" round, smaller than the regular pizza which is about 7". The best child's pizza at Disney in my opinion is at Wolfgang Puck's cafe at Downtown Disney. It was served on a large dinner plate and just about covered it. I would guess they were 12" wide and square. It was the "Tic Tac Toe" pizza. Very good pizzas as Wolfgang Puck was got famous from his pizzas. The counter service pizzas at WGP are very good for the kids also.:thumbsup2

We usually get one CS to share in the morning for breakfast? Do they pull this from adult CS, kids CS or are they pooled in reality?
