Hi Everyone,

I can't find this question so: If two family members own DVC are they able to pool credits towards 1 reservation and request a 2 or 3 bedroom unit? Say my sister and I both own DVC and we want my parents to join us - Possible?

Thanks

You could transfer one sister's points into the other sister's account. You are allowed one transfer (one direction only- IN or OUT) per year.

The other way to do it would be to make some ressies from one account and others from the other account.

But no, you can't combine points from accounts with different owners for one ressie.

Ok - this is the Info I was looking for! Just wanted to make sure it was possible! Thanks a Bunch!:thumbsup2

The best way to make such a reservation, IMO, is to each reserve some of the nights from your own account and then have MS link everything together- they do this all the time and it is not a big deal at all.

If you are staying an even number of days, this is easy to do - if it's an odd numer, then one of you will have to use more points than the other - but it's a lot easier than transferring points between contracts.

We do this all the time using our different accounts - just reserving several days from each one and linking the entire stay. It has always worked well for us. I have never transferred points from one account to another.

I'd just call MS when you are ready to do it and have them advise the best method for your situation.

Enjoy!

It's probably 6 of one and half-dozen of the other. I've done it both ways and eitherway is basically seamless.

Most of our points have a June UY month but we have one contract, purchased resale, that has an August UY month, and we've used both methods at various times.

Personally I think the transfer is the easier of the two. That way ALL points can be used if desired. When linking, it's easy to have a few left over points in one of the contracts that can't be used and would need to be banked. For example one contract has 50 points remaining and a reservation requires 22 pts/night. That contract could be used to reserve 2 nights, but would leave 6-points remaining unused.

In your case, since the points might not split evenly because of an odd number of days, or because some days are weekend days and use more points, I'd suggest calculating the total number of points required for the reservation, divide it into two, and have one person transfer that number of points to the other who can then make the reservation.

The differences are several. If you transfer, you've used the one for BOTH accounts for the use year in question. If you transfer and then have to change or cancel it can increase the issues in some cases and give you options in others. Plus you cannot transfer banked or borrowed points though you can bank transferred points. I think the best overall is to make reservations in each contract and link them together. The only real advantage to transferring is if you don't have enough in one or both accounts for that next night, you can transfer to have enough.

I just wanted to thank everyone who commented on this thread - you are all very helpful and wonderful! pixiedust:

My sister and I are planning a trip. We are both DVC owners, but we own at different resorts. If she transfers points into my account, will I be able to take advantage of the 11-month window? Or will her points, even though they are in my account, still only have a 7-month window?

Thanks!
Pam
