Credit/debit cards

I'm still confused and it doesn't take much!

I have the Virgin Platinum insurance - so I don't need a credit card right?? If I don't need one could someone explain why so I can explain it to my DH. I'm finding this all quite confusing because I've never been before and I'm so looking forward to it but just want to understand this bit - then I can get back to being totally excited again!!

Thanks.

help see above i go on wed 19th i thought they just took an impression

They did just take an impression when we rented :thumbsup2

As for drivers licenses the rental guy was only interested in the photo part of mine but that might just be because I had a photo license. As Miffy says it's probably ok :goodvibes

Just be careful if, like me, you choose to pre-pay for fuel and bring back empty.
Ok, I was charged the standard gallon rate but $60 to fill up a car which I later found only took $30........... :rotfl:
Still, at least I didn't have to worry about finding a gas station whilst still figuring out how to remember the road system... ;)

my card is maxed out will that be a problem

I'm not sure - to be on the safe side why not ask your card holder to temporarily increase your limit?

Thanks I think to Carol for clearing a few iffy points there.

There have been other threads on here before confirming that an old Green paper licence is no problem to rent a car. I looked personally for my Brother in Law tonight who is coming with us. I have advised him to go for the new card etc anyway, i think travelling with the photo id is much easier to cover for credit card purchases etc (Although not necessarily essential)
