Credit Cards that Costco takes

Can someone tell me what credit cards Costco in the u.s. takes? Canadian costcos just transferred from American express to mastercard. we will be going to the u.s. soon and will be shopping for items in Costco and am hoping someone can tell me.

In the US as of 2 weeks ago it was still AmEx. The switch to MC won't happen here until next March.

They only take Amex and debit cards.

You can use your credit card to buy costco gift cards online.

Just to clarify...as of April 1, 2016 Visa will be the only credit card accepted at Costco. Until then, it is still Amex.

The debit card has to have a PIN, by the way. They can't run them as credit.

Maybe it was the Citibank that threw me off. My Citibank card is a MasterCard.

I love Costco but hate their CC policy. I don't find their prices any cheaper than BJ's but they do offer some different items which I like. I don't have Amex so usually purchase big ticket items elsewhere if I am using my CC. Happy to hear they will switch to Visa at least it's a bit better.
