When we check in, do we give them a credit card number that we want whatever we charge to the room on? Or do they use the credit card we used to pay for our trip?

I'm just wondering because I used one credit card to pay for the trip, another credit card to pay for Candleight Processional dinner and a third credit card for PS on Christmas! Well actually two of them are the same credit card account, but two different credit card numbers.

So which will they use, or will they ask when we check in? And if we want to can we use a Visa check card instead so it comes out of our account instead of on a credit card? Or maybe it's a better idea to use a credit card and then pay it when we get home...

They will ask you at check-in what card you want charges placed on. I use different cards for various Disney charges all of the time. They will not assume you want to use one you used earlier. I don't know about the check card -- I don't have one because I find it easier to charge everything, then pay off balance at end of month.

You can certainly use your Visa Check Card... just remember that some of them (not all) have daily spending limits, so if your card does indeed have a limit, something you can do is go down every day or two and they can run the charges right there for you onto your card, and then you won't have to worry about it!

My check card does have a limit of $5000 a day but I don't have that much money anyway so that shouldn't be a problem!

There are lots of things you can do! We always leave our Visa check card, seems easier to pay for everything right away for us. Also you can leave one card at check in (they will only authorize it for $1 to make sure it is an open account and a valid card) and then the night before you check out you can go to the front desk with all of your credit cards and pay it off however you would like. Meaning if you had a $1500 resort preset spending limit and you have charged $1400 to the room, you tell them to charge $500 to one card, $400 to another one and $500 to still a different one (or split it up between the cards however you choose)! You could also tell them to charge your check card with some, and then put the rest on a cc. You could also pay some cash and put some on a card. As long as you do it the night before you check out, OR BEFORE YOU REACH THE PRESET SPENDING LIMIT you can pay however you would like! Just keep track of your spending if you want to do this, or go do it every couple of days, because once you hit that preset limit, they automatically will charge that first card for the entire amount immediately. As long as you take care of it before you hit that limit you can split charges up however you would like! Have a great trip!

Carrieberry - I didn't know there was a preset spending limit! I just thought whatever you wanted to charge, no matter how much, you could. How is the present spending limit determined?

I really don't think I'll charge that much since we got a package and room and tickets are already paid for, CP package is already paid for, and we are using Connections vouchers which we have already bought for most of our other meals. If we get snacks or drinks in the parks we may use the card, and when we eat at Boma's for dinner, and if we buy any souvenirs (but we're not really big on souvenirs anyway - just something to take home and end up throwing away in a couple of years!), and our drinks with the CP - and that's probably all we'll use it for.

Do they set a limit or do we set a limit? How does that work?

The preset limit is as follows:

Value resorts $500
Moderates $1000
Deluxes $1500

Once you reach that amount that is when they will charge your card. According to the CM's on this board and other things I have read, they have done extensive research and found that this is the average amount of money people spend per class of resort, so that is how they set the limit. Now that does not mean you can't charge more, it just means that they will charge the one card you left at check in for that amount once you reach the limit, so if you are at an All Star resort and you want to split your charges between cards, you need to keep an eye on what you are charging so you can get down there and do that before they charge your card the $500. Now once you reach the limit and they charge the card, they will give you another $500 (or whatever your resort limit is) and so on and so on. I believe you actually have to get on the phone with them (when you try to xharge to your room and it won't let you) verify who you are, and tell them that you do indeed want to start your limit over-no biggie!

Thanks for the info, Carrie. We are staying at the Beach Club and there's no way we will charge $1500 - probably not even $500. Everything is pretty much paid for except just a few odds and ends. It's really nice to have this info, though - this is the first I'd heard of this!

Perd, I don't want to burst your bubble, but you're going to WDW... $500 is about the cost of 3 bottles of water! Seriously though, the purchases sneak up on you at WDW... beware the gift shops!!!

Have a wonderful trip!!!

Erin :D
