I just called and got all of my ADR's that I wanted for our upcoming trip. Something that caught me off guard was they wanted a Credit Card to hold my California Grill ressie. I've never eaten there before but have never been asked for a Credit Card to reserve a ADR.

Is this something new for this year, or do they only do this for reservations at the California Grill? :confused3

BTW - I did try to search for this but we all know how that goes :rotfl2:

They are having Credit Card holds for Cali Grill, Akersus, CRT, and all the dinner shows (HDDR, BYBBQ, SoA) I think it is to cut back on the no shows. Hope that helps.

There are a select few restaurants that require a CC to hold the reservation for you. Some Signature & character restaurants such as the CG, Cinderella's Royal Table, Akershus, etc... I'm not sure of the whole list, but it's standard for some of the popular restaurants. They tell you at the time of booking that you will be charged $10 per person if you do not show for your ADR. I see no problem with them doing this as it cuts down on the number of no shows so that other guests have an opportunity to get ADR's :thumbsup2

it is $20 per person at CG for no shows now. you are highly encouraged to show up for your ressie.

Also remember that this is just a "Hold" and that they will not be any charges to your card as long as you show for your ressie or if you cancel with-in the time frame you where given, (24 to 48 hours) depending of the restaurant.;)

Thanks for the information guys, the lady that booked my dining adr's didn't mention anything about the $10 or $20 for no shows, although that's not a problem as we want to eat there that's why we made the ADR :goodvibes

Thanks for the help

California Grill has had a credit card guarantee since 2005. Apparently they had trouble with some guests booking a reservation for around fireworks time just to get up to the restaurant and see the fireworks (they wouldn't bother to hang around and eat).

The fee varies from place to place. Call the ADR line and ask them what the fee is for each location, some may be the equivalent of 1 persons meal.

The Fantasmic package is also held with a CC. My husband swears that even though they say they won't charge the CC, the amount is going to be "held" from our credit card. Like it is with some car rental places or hotels. (We're also booking CRT.) I tried to tell him nothing will be done to our card unless we don't show up, but he's not buying it... Does anyone have any experience with this that I can draw from?
