Credit Card - Exchange Rate?

Hi

I'm trying to cost prices for park tickets for our next tripand I've worked out that it's cheaper buying from one of the US sites.

However, as I am 'trip organiser' I need to tell the rest of our party the approx £ charge. I know I won't be charged the tourist rate, but is there any site that would show what rate would be applied. I know it wouldn't be exact,but any idea would be useful

I cant remember the details but if you go to bba.com there is a section on there showing money transfers so that should give you an indication of rate.

We bought Universal tickets online on Tuesday. The total price was $210.85. The amount on our credit card statement is £124. HTH

It depends what card you use. With the Nationwide card you are not 'charged' for international purchases so you get very close to the bank rate.

Other cards add a fee by reducing the exchange rate, so you get closer to the tourist rate.

Go for worst case and quote the tourist rate

I usually go with the retail rate from www.foreignexchange.co.uk.

I have a Nationwide credit card and get pretty much that rate but as Goofyish says other cards charge a rate (usually 2.75%) - you could get the rate from website and multiply it by 97.25% - it'll be close to what you'll get.

Another convert to the Nationwide card here (we get everywhere!), but when I was still using my Barclaycard, I found the exchange rate I got on that was almost always within fractions of a cent of the Travelex.co.uk tourist rate, so I'd use that to work out my pricings.

why not just give them a estimate of the cost and when it apears on bill you will know the right price then divide by everyone
