My 19 year old niece is saving for a trip to Paris next summer. I would like to give her money toward her trip for Christmas, but I haven't thought of a clever way to present it. The only idea I have so far is maybe some French candy. She lives out of state, so I would have to ship it, so I can't send a large-scale model of the Eiffel Tower. ;)

Any ideas? Thank you!

What about an enlarged map of Paris and you can pin money on each of the different things to see? Or maybe a Paris calendar and you can attach money to each month until she goes? Or maybe make a little "coupon book" where each page has something "Parisian" and money is attached to it. For instance, the Eiffel Tower, and add a message saying "Here's some money to get you to and from here. Then you can have a page that says, "Here's some money to enjoy delicious French chocolates", etc...... Hope to help!!

Papyrusonline.com has a number of Paris themed cards:

Love all these ideas - thanks! :thumbsup2

google the words "eiffel origami" You can fold a bill into the shape of the tower.

i was thinking along the same lines.....

but, being limited on time and expertise  i would probably buy an eiffel tower statue (icing has inexpensive ET earring holders, etc), and cover it in various denominations of currency.
btw, i've wrapped CDs, socks, GCs, and lots of other gifts in currency, hid multiple (different sized) boxes with clues to find a box of gold (coins), hung 40 gold coins on a tree for a 40th bd party, etc - never had a recipient not absolutely LOVE their gift :)

i always giggle when someone starts yelling, "don't tear the wrapping paper!!!!"

These are great ideas! I did wonder about my ability to actually make an origami Eiffel Tower . . .

I really like the Insight Pocket Maps when traveling, so maybe one of those of Paris. I like to travel light while sightseeing, but I also refuse to go anywhere without a map.

I was in Kohl's today and they had a 3 pk of ornaments that was a suitcase, camera and eiffel tower. They would be perfect.

Colorful scarves are very "Parisian" and might be nice with a card and money. :)

how about a paris puzzle and you can fold up money really tiny and intermix it with the pieces?

Euro are low right now. I'd buy her some euro and put them in a nice passport cover.

Send it in a money belt. This saved several of our trips when we encountered pickpockets who must have been very disappointed in our empty pockets.

I love the idea of the map with money pinned to it, too.
