CRAZY Wait times today at EPCOT

Have waited in line 45 mins just to use the bathroom in the MK NYE. Now that's a wait, and every bathroom was the same!

Can you imagine if the didn't close the park? I wonder where the people would go.

That is nuts. Absolutely nuts. I would never wait in line that long. Not even for stuff at Cedar Point. When you pay premium prices to get into these parks you should not have to wait in lines longer than 30 minutes at the most. :scared1:

I bet you that hardly anyone knew that the line was listed at 4 hours. And I would further bet you that the actual line time was not anywhere close to that number.

Twice last month at WDW I saw astronomical wait times, that were not correct. First at TSM that line was listed at 160 minutes after we exited with fast pass. As I was twittering that queue time out, the number dropped down to 80.

At ToT the line was listed at 120 minutes, I thought that it was strange as RnRC was only 70 minutes. I decided to at least stand on line while I was making my decision and noticed that I was standing in about the same spot as I was earlier in the day when it only took 40 minutes to go thru the line. Sure enough, I was at the ToT lobby by 20 minutes and thru the ride in 50 minutes. When I asked the CM why the posted queue time was so long he told me that if they have to take a ride off line they double the posted queue time. So a high queue time serves as quite a deterrant to others getting in line.

I told this to my kids at the EOD when the TSM posted queue time was 110 minutes. I bet them that the queue wasn't nearly as long as posted and sure enough they finished the ride in 35 minutes.

I don't think Disney is deceptive, but they sometimes overmanage customer expectations. Best thing to do is find out where the end of the line is and make your own estimate as to actual queue time.

I took a picture on my phone of a 180 minute wait on TT last week, and a minute later it dropped to 90 minutes. I don't know if someone messed up or if they were trying to discourage people from joining the line.

Actually and unfortunately the Soarin' line did reach a 6 hour wait for a few who chose to wait. Apparently one side went down a couple of times which ended up making the wait stretch out.

I do agree that often the wait times are not entirely accurate but I think Soarin' tries to keep it pretty real.

I can remember going to Disney a day or 2 after Christmas 3 years ago and spending the New Year there & I don't ever remember experiencing the crazy crowd levels they seem to be getting now...I would NEVER want to be there then-waste the majority of your vacation time in lines...no thanks! But really I suppose for people who live so far away that this may be their once in a lifetime trip-if they don't wait they miss out...

we went yesterday and there was a 140 minute wait for space mountain but the wait was really only 90.

LOL, but no one else pays money to go to WDW??? Sorry, your logic doesn't make sense, everyone pays roughly the same amount of money to be there so who gets turned away so that you don't have to wait 30 minutes on a ride? :confused3

The wait time is not an estimate of how long you MIGHT wait, it is a measure of how long the last person tested(the red stick) ACTUALLY waited. We once set a 0 minute wait time at Snow White.

Disney may inflate their wait times but that's still too long even if you cut it in half. No thanks!

I confirmed today the wait time got up to 295 minutes for Soarin yesterday. Must have had issues with the ride which caused the extra long time as someone noted....or maybe not.....

Today is much more managable. Went to Studios right at opening until 12 and Toy Story was bouncing between 20-50 most of the am. Rode 3 times. Only waited 20 minutes for RR coaster around 9:30am.

Heading to Epcot now

What do people do in line for that long??

I knit! :thumbsup2

Okay, I don't usually wait in lines longer than an hour, it ruins my feet the rest of the day, but any line longer than 20 minutes and I'll be the chick with the sock knitting bag around her wrist knitting away. Shorter than 20 is prime cuddle/chat time with DH. :)

Much better times tonight at Epcot. At 2pm was able to get Test Track fastpass for 4:50-5:50. Soarin was ONLY 60 minutes. Mission Space was a mere 30 minutes. Much lighter crowds.

Back to reality......lol

that does sound a little crazy... I'm glad I stayed home for new years eve.... But am planning another trip for March/April :cheer2:

Amazing that people wait that long!!! :confused3
I would love to go to the end of the line and interview those that waited that long! Ask them "WHY???" and if it was worth it???

I would never, ever! wait that long.... never!!

even at Cedar Pt the longest I will wait is 40 minutes!
my DD will wait 1 1/2 to 2 hours for her favorite ride at Cedar Point, but refuses to wait longer than 40 minutes at WDW.... yes, fast-passes have spoiled her. :rotfl:

Some people don't understand why someone would wait that long in a lineup for a ride. But.... if you've already paid to get into the park, what choice do you have? Go home, wait in lines, or walk around all day. Might as well at least get some attractions in as opposed to none! :confused3

That being said. I hate crowds, and am hoping to go to disney at the quietest time of year if possible! But if I was already there, and there were big crowds, I'd at least try and wait to go on something, as opposed to going on nothing. Some people travel from great distances and don't have the option of coming back another day!
