Crazy to do 3 split stay for a week stay? *another update I made a decision*

I made a decision on my hotels. I’m going to stick with just two for my split stay and do the Riviera and Copper Creek. I really wanted the Grand, but thinking about how late the room could potentially become available and we need time to get ready for our date dinner I feel like the stress wouldn’t be worth it in case things go wrong.

Deciding factor for me I was talking to a friend and she said I should look at another date to go back and whenever I’ve looked before that hotel is always sold out. But I decided to search for my birthday week and amazingly there was a 2 bedroom villa available. So I moved my grand reservation to my new dates so I wouldn’t need to pay again. Seemed like fate it was available when I did that.

Still going to look for a cancellation leading up to my trip but will only take it if it covers all the days I need

FWIW: You made the right decision, IMO. I love split stays, but I made it a rule early on - never stay less than three nights in any resort. You need that long to settle in and enjoy the resort. One week = one move for us. You need an absolute minimum of 9 days to move twice.

This is the queen pulling down and this is the twin I think under the tv. Aren’t they both in a one bedroom? The room says it sleeps 5 adults. These photos are on the website under a one bedroom

Oh! I had no idea! This makes the 1bd in the GFV so much more attractive than a 1bd elsewhere. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have never been to GFV and now I am more likely to. Enjoy!

We have the same rule. Although we had a three-way stay on our last trip (19 days) following that rule, but I think we are just going to stick with two resort split stay. Maybe bc we are getting older, but it was just hard on this last trip! Packing, repacking, going to the store the next day after moving. Just felt like we had too many wasted days with everything. Well, and two hurricanes didn’t help…..

Still going to do split stays (we have one in December) but just sticking with two resorts.

OH dear! Two hurricanes! that was rough. My son and DIL were in WDW for Milton recently and were bummed to lose a day and a half. Having two in one trip must be brutal.

But, yes, I hear you about moving too much and too soon! It is easily possible. We use packing cubes and don't really unpack, so it isn't too difficult to switch. But we do have some setup with every move and there is always the uncertainty about where the room will be located and if there are any problems that need to be resolved......plus, of course, there is that slightly untethered feeling of not having a home base to return to for a few hours. Not that it's a big deal, but I wish that you didn't have to give up the first room until you are assigned your next one! LOL!

I think that we made ourselves too much at home, lol. We've switched three rooms in one trip and I don't recall feeling this way. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We’ve done a split stay a few times - but only two resorts per trip! I’d consider three resorts if it’s a big bucket list room that comes available. It’s very easy to have your luggage transferred. On our last trip, our room at BCV was ready at 1pm which was a lovely surprise.

I made one more final change and went back to my 3 way split 🤦🏻‍♀️. So my reasoning I’ll save almost 4K not doing my birthday trip, we had originally planned to cut back on trips since I’m a stay at home mom now so adding this trip really shouldn’t have happened. But biggest deciding factor is my baby has developed severe separation anxiety from me and my husband. My parents came to stay for a week and she would cry hysterically if they even came near her. They tried watching her when I went somewhere for a half hour and she cried hysterically the entire time never stopped until I got home and picked her up. So date night at Victoria and Albert’s is going to have to be cancelled. Can’t have them watch her for 4 hours and have her super upset the whole time.

So now we don’t have the fancy dinner we need to get back to get ready for so an early room doesn’t matter. I know it’s a bit crazy doing 3 hotels in one but I revised my wilderness room to one night so this is pretty much locking me in since I’m sure the room will disappear quickly.

Wish us luck! Less than a month to the trip yay

no, no no. Once is enough, 2 ho hum, 3 crazy

I agree 3 different villas are a bad idea with two babies. There are too many possibilities for problems, such as getting in the one night room and having 'room problems' which take up half the stay. Imagine how upset your babies will be if their nap time is not available for them. Imagine all the baby stuff that has to be packed and shuffled around.

If a child has a problem with staying alone with grandparents in the normal environment a constantly changing environment does not sound sensible.

When I've gone solo split stays were not so difficult but with kids they can be pretty tiring.

We do split stays all the time and take the packing cube idea one step further. It takes extra planning but we literally have different suitcases packed for different stays. Yes that means we share a suitcase for a stay, but it makes packing so much easier.. at the end of one stay, scoop up the dirty clothes pile them into that suitcase and forget about it. We use a car. The fun part is the look of panic on a porters face when we open the tailgate and he sees all the suitcases. We tell him don’t worry it’s just this one. Any common goods usually fit into a single shoulder bag. The wildest trip was a dcl cruise out of port Canaveral, the galactic star cruiser, the poly for three days and the gf for two.

ONE MORE UPDATE

I found an additional night at riviera with the annual passholder discount. So having that I’d be there Monday-Friday and switch to grand Friday-Sunday.

Going to run it by my husband who likes wilderness a lot and see if he’s ok with it. But it’ll save me $300 and less switching so makes sense.

Should I change my park day from magic kingdom to Epcot then? Right now we have animal kingdom, Epcot, Magic kingdom and Magic kingdom. So we’d do Epcot twice instead since the skyliner. We’d still park hop over for dinner since we have dinner reservations there. Or should I stay with magic kingdom twice

With small kids, I'd do MK twice instead of Epcot twice, unless you think they'll like the attractions at Epcot better and want to do them twice. I think it might require two days at MK to do everything even once.

Thanks! We’re going to keep both MK days going to take the Minnie van there to avoid the bus

We did a three resort split stay over a weeklong trip once. Never again. It was too much moving around…it sucks up way too much time. That said, we do a two resort split stay on just about every trip. We like to experience other resorts…it’s the magic of DVC and WDW.

Ya I’ve always been a fan of split stays you get such a different experience at each resort. I am happy though that I was able to consolidate my stay down to two resorts.

Wanted to report back on how my trip went. It was such a fun week! First time we went for 7 days and I was worried it would feel too long but was sad when we were leaving. I am so glad I moved it into two resorts though. Our switch day I didn’t realize how much stuff we needed to get organized with the little kids and it would have been a pain doing that twice. But it was fun experiencing Riviera and then getting on the monorail so I don’t regret doing two in one trip.

Going back to try the new Poly tower in February and considering going again for my birthday in May just not sure where to stay
