Crazy Things You Did When You Were Younger

What is the craziest thing you've ever done in your youth? I got inspired to ask this by the "Alligator in Seven Seas Lagoon" thread. First of all, I live in Louisiana, home of many creepy crawlies and reptiles. When I was about 18 my friend's boyfriend lived on a lake called "Black Bayou" (that should tell you something). A whole group of us often went water skiing and swimming - even swam at NIGHT (no, not skinny dipping or anything( in water that had alligators and LOTS of water moccasins. Some of us girls would go out there (with the people's permission) and sun on their deck in the afternoons. They found HUGE water moccasins in their yard, and on the deck, but they LOVED to wrap themselves around the wooden posts on the stairs under water that you used to get up on the deck out of the water. One hot August afternoon we were burning up and even though we knew the risk we all jumped into the water to cool off. Then I realized that the only way to get back up on the dock was to use those stairs. It took a while to get up the courage and I just took a deep breath, put my foot on one stair and threw myself up on the deck. My friends soon followed. I'll never forget how fast my heart was beating because I HATE snakes and I would have had a heart attack had I stepped on one. I think back now and I cringe. You couldn't PAY me to do that now!

OMG- don't even get me started? I used to jump off of cliffs into a river to swim. Really high rocks, too. I can't wait to see what others post!:sunny:

EWW...I live in Fl so I know how you feel. I hate to even think about cottonmouths anywhere near me. My mom has a huge lake and I always go swimming in it. I'm just waiting for it to become a home to alligators and snakes.

The craziest thing I ever did when I was younger? It probably isn't the only thing but it is the stupidest thing I did. I was really into the party scene and all that it enatiled in high school. Well I was at a friends house and we wanted to go to this party way up in the hills. We didn't have our license's yet so we stole her moms car. We took it out all night and when we got back-her mom was still not home. So instead of leaving well enough alone-we went out again. This time when we got back her dad was waiting for us. My friend was driving this time and she hightailed it into reverse and said we were going to Mexico. Needless to say I talked her inot turning around and going back to her house. But not before dropping me off at home first. Then, an hour or so after she dropped me off, I was in my room not sleeping and her dad pounded on our front door. I lived with my dad and he got up and answered it. He was so PISSED to be woken up in the middle of the night. He got me out of my room and made me apologize to my friend's parents.

I have done a lot of crazy things, which were also really stupid. I'm actually lucky to be alive today if I think about it hard enough...so I don't.

I grew up on a horse farm in Ocala, FL. My mom used to let me drive the tractor while she tossed hay in the field, she also let me play in the hay barn by myself. Do you know what a hay barn looks like?! Imagine hay stacked to the ceiling. I used to make tunnels in it! Now I think about all the things that could have happened, like the hay collapsing on me or the snakes and rats I KNOW were in there. I did this when I was two mind you! I would never let my own girls do any of that. Man, kids are sheltered these days! ;)

I have done so many crazy/stupid things that I wonder how I am still alive today.

One of my bright moments was jumping from the roof of a boyfriends house onto a wet trampoline and laughing as we slid across the tramp and then falling off. Another on is that we learned how to faint so we would make ourselves faint on purpose....my boyfriend at the time ended up having a concusion from fainting and smacking his head on a table. So many more, I will see what others say before posting more (I don't want to write a book quite yet!!!)

I did many stupid and crazy things! (Didn't we all?) One of the more dangerous was sneaking out of the house in the dead of night and walking half a mile away from my house so that my parents wouldn't hear my boyfriend's motorcycle. He picked me up and we went joyriding in the pitch dark, with no helmets, going WAAAY too fast. (If my mom is reading this, I'm in BIG trouble. ;) )

I must have lead a dull life

Jumping from the top of the garage into our swimming pool.

Trolly car racing. We'd try to pass the trolly car and make it around before a car would be heading right for us!

Do I know you well enough to make this confession? Last semester of college, while student teaching, I snuck into my boyfriend's room. He took the whole hit (said it was someone else, but he had to find alternative housing); if I had been caught I would have failed my student teaching. Boy was that a stupid stupid stupid thing to do!!!

I definately don't want to admit to most of the stuff, but the one thing that freaks me out now bing a Mommy is drag racing on city streets, two cars side by side. I also got arrested - charges dropped - for tresspassing in a quary - jumping off the cliffs.

Let's see:

Back in college, the first McDonalds opened up in our country, 3 hours away from my college town. We were dying for some McDs, so we drove 3 hrs one way to have lunch, 3 hrs back, went to a late afternoon class, then drove 2 hrs away to a club and went clubbing till 2am, then drove 2 hrs back to campus and crashed for 3 hours, then woke up at 7am for a 7am class.

Geez... what energy.

we learned how to faint so we would make ourselves faint on purpose....

OMG a group of us use to do the same thing a lot!! Can't believe someone else use to do this. Did you use to live in Houston? LOL!

Riding my bike across the middle of a gravel pit. The path was not more than a foot wide and there was a straight drop down into the pit on either side.

I think back about it and cringe.

Gosh where do I start!! Drinking, drugs, VERY explicit sexual acts, sneaking out the house with older guys, treating my parents like crap, stripping, ignoring God, and basically ruining my life for ten years. That about sums it up. Praise God for Jesus!!

Oh don't worry, you can share your stories. I just told you ONE of mine. Another stupid thing I did was....I got my driver's license the day I turned 15 (have to be 16 here now and I'm glad). I was a good driver. Well, I spent the night with my best friend whose mom worked nights so nobody was home. My parents didn't know that she wasn't home and let me drive my mom's car there especially since we had danceline practice the next morning at 6 a.m. So I was only to drive to friend's house and to practice the next morning. Yeah right. There was a group of people at my boyfriend's house - not a party per se and we didn't drink or anything but we went. When we left my friend who would not turn 15 for 4 more months but whose mom let her practice drive convinced me what a good driver she was and to let her drive home. I have NO idea why I agreed! We were backing out of his driveway and she backed my mom's car into a huge culvert/drainage ditch. The guys had to come out to get it out of the ditch. Of course I then got in the driver's seat and proceeded to drive us to her house. The suspension was all out of whack, the tie rod ends were broken and even if I held the steering wheel straight the car weaved back and forth like you wouldn't believe. I was so scared I said the Lord's Prayer out loud the whole way back to her house. (She still laughs and teases me about that). I didn't catch a wink and had to come up with a story. First thing in the a.m. I had to call home and I made up a story that I ran over the curb when we stopped at the convenience store on the way to practice. I knew my dad didn't believe that much damage could be cause by a little curb but he never said anything. It wasn't until about 15 years later and I was an adult and I finally told them the truth. LOL.

I used to walk on this old rickety railroad tressel near my parents house which was a good 40 feet off the ground over rocks and the railroad. It was just a small walkway with metal beams and wood steps, but it was so rickety and very dangerous. Of course I thought it was tons of fun. I often wonder how I never fell or broke through. It was torn down years ago, for the best!

I threw caution to the wind and went to film school...that was crazy...what was i thinking?

I still can't believe I did this, and if my parent's ever knew they would both have had heart attacks...

Back in the early 80's five friends and I all went on college spring break to Ft. Lauderdale. We had tickets for some dinner cruise, but had no way to get to the dock so we hitch-hiked. In our dressy dresses and heels, we got into the back of a box truck driven by 3 strange guys (about the same age as us). They refused to let us out after awhile, so we ended up waiting until they had to stop for gas and then we all jumped out and ran for it. We all abandoned our shoes and ran until we couldn't run any more. By this time we were completely lost in a strange town with only about $20 between us (the dinner cruise was already paid for) and no shoes. We managed to find a gas station with a pay phone and called the cops to tell them what happened. They came to collect us and brought us back to our hotel with a very stern warning.

We were all basically really good girls so this scared the heck out of us. I still get scared when I think what could have happened. Not a one of us could give a description of the truck or the license plate number to the cops either.

This is why my kids will NEVER go on spring break if I have anything to say about it. If even I (Miss Goody Two Shoes) could do something so stupid, they could too.

I hitchhiked once too, with a couple of girlfriends. The guy driving unzipped his pants and was starting to whip out his stuff when thankfully we stopped at a red light where we all made a run for it. Of course we were hysterically laughing but after a few minutes the seriousness of the situation dawned on us. That was the first and last time I hitchhiked.
