Mine is March 11th.

I've truly learned to hate that date.

Brian Nichols escaped from court and went on a killing spree in Atlanta: March 11 2005.

Japanese tsunami, March 11, 2011

Sgt Bales massacre in Afghanistan - March 11 2012 :sad2:

My precious Dad died, March 11 2003. :guilty:

I really really hate that date.

:sad1:

Anything crazy happen on your birthdate?

Mine is June 17th, which is the day OJ Simpson led the police on his low-speed chase, and apparently the day that Mike Tyson beat up Robin Givens.

But in looking for that, I also found out it was the day the Statue of Liberty arrived in NYC, and the date of the first kidney transplant.

Interesting...

Sad to see your dad passed away on your birthday. :sad1: I can understand not wanting to celebrate it much.

OP: sorry about your DF.

Nothing happened crazy on my birthday, but my boyfriend's birth day is April 16, which was the date in 2007 of the massacre at Va.Tech.

Sept. 11: well we all know what happened that day, but my friend and coworker's dd has her birthday on that day.

Well we all have two things we love that were born the same day as me.
October 1

1971 - Walt Diney world opened
1982 - Epcot opened

That's my mom's birthday as well.

Queen Elizabeth ll (England) was officially coronated on my first birthday; I don't remember having a birthday party so I guess it got pre-empted by this ceremony. (She actually became Queen in February 1952 when her father died but her official ceremony was not until June 2, 1953). I discovered this years ago while playing trivial pursuit - lol.

I looked up my birthdate, my husband's, and my two kids. Wikipedia lists at least one event with a significant amount of lives lost for each of those days. Statistically, I'm guessing most people will find the same.

OP, sorry that the losses on your birthdate have been so personal.

One good and one bad that I am aware of

April 25 is my birthday (which is the number portion of my screen name).

The good: I won $10,000 in a nationwide radio contest in '00

The bad: Bea Arthur died in '09

I am a big fan of The Golden Girls, and my birthday just hasn't been the same.

December 7th - Pearl Harbor Day. The day in 1941 that changed US history!

The Tientsin-Tangshan (China) 8.2 earthquake killed 242,000 people on my 3rd birthday.
Many interesting things happened on that day before I was born, my personal favorite is Henry VIII married Katherine Howard in 1540.

OP, I'm sorry that your birthday has such tragedies associated with it, especially the loss of your father

Nothing especially interesting has happened on my birthday in recent memory. The sinking of the Bismarck and the start of the Centralia PA coal fire are the only to "this day in history" things I remember about my b-day and both happened long before I was born.

My mom, too, in 2000.:hug:

My birthday's just the official holiday (though not always celebrated on that date) in mid-October that most people don't feel great about anymore. Yay for explorers finding a different place than they meant to go and not realizing it for awhile...:3dglasses

Feb 17th:

1801- An electoral tie for the office of President between Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr was decided by the US House of Representatives in Jefferson's favor. Burr was declared VP.

1933- The Blaine Act passes, initiating the end of Prohibition in the US.

1968- The Basketball Hall of Fame opens.

1996- Gary Kasparov beats the "Deep Blue" supercomputer at chess.

2008- Kosovo declares independence.

Notable births:
Larry the Cable Guy
Paris Hilton
Michael Jordan
Denise Richards
Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasly from the Harry Potter movies)
Lou Diamond Phillips
Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Chord Overstreet

Notable deaths:
Moliere
Geronimo
Thelonious Monk
Lee Strasberg

I must say, nothing too terribly exciting happened on my birthday.

Ironically, and sadly, the space shuttle Challenger disaster happened on DH's birthday, while many space shuttles have landed successfullly on mine.
Nuclear testing seems to happen on my birthday as well, out in Nevada :confused3 I mean, I have a lot of candles coming up this year (50) but nuclear?
:rotfl2:

World War II ended on mine (September 2) though I tend to remember more that it began the day before my birthday for some reason. Fun fact though, my great uncle was there for their surrender aboard the U.S.S. Missouri.

The Great Fire of London also happened on that same day in 1666 (huh, never noticed the weird year before now I mean sure there's a one in front of it but still).

On the bright side, the first sci fi film was released on my birthday in 1902.

My birthday is in about 5 minutes. So anything interesting that happens tomorrow is on my birthday!

I looked up March 21 on Wikipedia and I didn't find anything to good
