Crazy question: Has anyone worn flip-flops to the parks before?

Overall the parks, I normally wear my Olukai's, as they have support, I have issues with my heels and knees, and can't wear normal shoes those and my Teva's work great.

I would not recommend Old Navy type flip flops. I wore croc flips flops and slides, and they were great. Good support and they allowed my feet to breathe in the hot weather. In fact I walked all week no blisters or sore feet, but my DH & DS wore gym shoes and had blisters all over their feet. It's been 2 weeks, and my DH is STILL recovering. They made fun of me before we left about the flips flops and said I'd be sorry...but who had the last laugh! :rolleyes1

I always rotate between flip flops and sneakers just so my feet don't start to hurt, even though I wear flip flops every day from about April through Sept. I also wouldn't recommend just plain Old Navy flip flops (although I'm sure some do just fine with those :) ) I wear Under Armour ones, they have lots of cushion in them :thumbsup2

I've never been hurt by a quick moving stroller due to wearing flip-flops lol but I sure can see it happening! This will also be my first trip in the summer (in 4 days actually!) since 1991 and I don't know if my feet will sweat a lot more than usual and get irritated between my toe with the flip-flops, so I bought Sketchers Go-Walks to rotate with along w/ my regular sneakers.

Last trip I wore Teva sandals, with some arch support, for the entire trip with no problem.

When I was 25, I could probably have bought a new pair of $2 flip flops on the way to the park and been good for the whole trip, but not now. The older you are and the heavier you are the more support you'll need. I am 50 and was in pretty good shape for my trip in October (as opposed to right now :rolleyes1). The older you are and the heavier you are the more support you'll need.

I rotate days with my reef flip flops and my Nike sneakers with arch support insoles :thumbsup2

I wear cheap Old Navy flip flops all the time during the summer at home. But I know if I wear them to a local festival for a day, or something like that, my legs and back will ache at the end of the day due to lack of support.

For the same reason as you - not wanting my feet to get super hot - I bought some supportive Crocs flip flops that I saw recommended on here before our trip a few years back. I wore them all around at home to break them in. Within three hours of wearing them in Orlando, I had a blister on the bottom of my toe. I'd imagine with the humidity being so much higher that my feet remained a little moist and thus the blister from rubbing on the rubber of the flip flop. Couldn't wear them again.

I wear TEVA's MUSH flip flop/ sandal. It is a small wedge and is very comfortable for all day walking. I wouldnt recommend a simple flip flop though.

I have a pair of Teva Mush flip flops and I could see wearing them on a small park day like HS.

no one has ever worn flip flops to Disney, not sure they are even allowed!!!!

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Sorry, I couldn't resist! I never take sneakers to WDW, too hot & bulky on my feet. I have Tevas, Clarks & Adidas flip flops and have never had an issue at WDW with any of them, ever.

I have a pair of Sanuk flip flops that I wore a lot at Disneyland recently. They were as comfortable as, if not more comfortable than, my sneakers. I wore both.

And fwiw, we walked a LOT. LOL.

That's just about the only thing I wear at Disney. And they aren't any special/expensive flip-flops either. Usually the $1 Old Navy flip-flops.

Just like tennis shoes though I always break them in and wear them before I get to Disney to make sure they dont hurt my feet or in between by toes.

I have never had any problems but I also live in flip-flops in the summer...

I have worn Teva Original Mush and Cobain Superbounce and never had a problem. :thumbsup2

All I wear are Reef flip flops. They have great arch support and are very comfortable. I live in them all spring, summer, and fall anyway, so my feet are used to them. I tried wear my gym shoes, the last time, and had to go back and change into my flip flops. No way could I wear anything else. I wouldn't recommend wearing cheap ones. But the good ones work great for me. Someone wondered how feet were doing by the end of the day. I had no problems whatsoever.

If you wear flip flops all day, every day- you might be okay. But if they aren't your normal shoe, I wouldn't try them on a trip that is going to require 8-12 hours of standing and walking in them!

I wear flip flops just about every day, all year. I have a flip flop perma-tan line on the top of my feet. Last year I wore sneakers for the first part of my trip then on the 5th or 6th day, I decided to wear my flip flops to HS. About halfway through the day, I was meeting sorcerer Mickey and looked down at my feet and my toes looked weird. They looked like fat little sausages. I looked and my feet were completely swelled up. I think it was all that walking in a non-supportive shoe. I went back to the room that night and iced and elevated my feet and the swelling mostly went down. I went back to sneakers the next two days. I would stick to supportive shoes.

I have done WDW in old navy/havaiana flip flops twice now. No problems at all. I think it depends on what you wear normally. I spend all summer in flip flops.

My wife and I always wear our Teva Original Flip Flops to the parks (even on days when we're there from 8am until midnight) and never have issues with wearing them...

I just got the Sanuk yoga mat flip flops based off many recommendations on a similar thread. I hope those will work for our upcoming trip. I wear sandals of some sort every day from April-October, so I'm hoping they will be fine!
