Crazy question about AKL in December

Hello all! Just had a thought. With all the code talk, I've been considering possibilities for potential upgrades. We're booked at CSR for Christmas week, but if there are codes, we may consider trying out AKL. In the past we have taken advantage of early morning entrances to parks...and will probably stay until after dark. So here's my question: Since the days are shortest when we are going, is it worth trying to stay at AKL to see the animals if we are up and out early and not returning til after supper at the earliest? I fear we will always be "in the dark"! We visited AKL last year for a great dinner at BOMA and just loved the atmosphere. But will it be worth the money if we can't see the animals? Thanks for your opinions in advance!

We were at AKL for just one night a couple of weeks ago. I was also concerned about this, and wondered if I should have paid the extra$ for Savannah given the minimal time we were in the room. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Savannah was actually lit at night, dimly but we were able to see just fine. We actually saw far more later in the evening than were nearby in the morning when we arrived. We were not at all disappointed.

I think I would get a pool view. You MAY get upgraded but even if you don't there are so many places around the resort to view the animals. We were at the AKL in Nov for a few days and we stayed Savannah view.
This time we are staying Pool view. FOR US, it really wasn't worth the extra money. We would rather have the pool view since everywhere we went around the resort we seemed to see the animals. Also the pool view is closer to everything .
Now many people LOVE savannah view so it depends.

AKL is great for a winter night! When the parks are closing early you still have a ton to see at the resort. Yes, you can see into the savannahs, and the animals are out all night long. Go for it!

YIPEE! Thanks for your encouragement. Now I will just have to wait and see if any codes come out for AKL. Looking forward to seeing any animal...even "the mouse"!

Late one night, we had the pleasure of watching a group of zebras running very fast up and down the savanna. They did lap after lap, faster and faster.. it was thrilling! You will see animals at night, don't worry.
