We were going thru the parking entrance to one of the parks on day 5 of our recent vacation and we all had the same idea at the same time.

How awesome would it be if they had just ONE lane dedicated to WDW Resort guests at the entrance to each parking area for the four major parks?

Probably never happen.. but it seemed like such a no-brainer.

Actually just before you drive threw the Magic Kingdom gates on the right hand side towards the end of the sign I noticed on the road it says MK Resort Guests only. Since you have to stay on the right side to reach the Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground it makes sense to do it like that.

While it's not a line for them to get past the gates and get to the TTC if they planed to visit the Magic Kingdom, they at least have it so they make it easy when driving to one of the Magic Kingdom Resorts.

I wish they had that lane at Epcot, MGM, AK ... etc.

Well like I said before the MK Resort Guest only lane is not for parking at the Magic Kingdom, since the only way to get to the MK Resorts is by passing threw the Magic Kingdom gates. Besides if a WDW Resort guest staying at All Star Sports was going to the Magic Kingdom by car and saw the the MK Resort Guest only lane and went in it, they would have to cut across to the left side after going threw it to reach the TTC so it does not make sense for them to go in that lane despite what it says on the ground.

Your idea does sound intresting and makes sense since WDW Resort guests do not pay $10.00 to park at the MK, Epcot, MGM and AK so why should they wait and longer while other cars are paying to park, this way they go in a specific lane, flash their KTTW card and they are on their way. However somehow I don't see WDW doing this, but you never know.

Replace the paper parkin pass in the window.. with a disposable 'EZ-PASS' -- and WOW.. then you'd have something huh?

There's a fine balance (balancing act):
1. If resort guests rode the buses instead of driving this question would not be asked as well as leave more space in the parking lot for day guests.
1a. This idea may not help because by the time the parking lot fills up currently and probably before the parking lot fills up with fewer resort guests parking there, there are so many people in the park that day guests get turned away.
2. If all resort guests rode the buses then the bus fleet and driver roster would have to be expanded at extra cost which may or may not be reflected in room rates.

>>> disposable EZ-Pass
How many guests would pay for one in order to have the privilege of using an express lane for resort guests?

>>> cut to the left
To many guests it would still make sense to use the resort guests only line if that line were shorter.

Where is kind of disagree with you is about 1a. Since we don't know the exact number of Resort guests who take their cars and not Disney Transportation how could other guests be turned away because of extra Resort guests parking their cars? I personally think that number of Resort guests who take Disney Transportation is high and the number who take their own cars is low. Finally how is the parking lot being filled up because of Resort guests any different then when guests are turned away on such days as 4th Of July, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day?

I don't think it takes very long either way, unless you go during peak season. When I was a cast member I always had to just flash my ID just as you would a key to the world, and basically I became very skilled at picking the shortest line and flashing the card and smiling. I was never bothered by it.

I agree I think it would be a great idea! It gets very frustrating to get behind someone asking a million questions or paying by credit or whatever they do that takes forever, and all you have to do is show your pass. The AP holders could use the lane also.

You can actually pay by credit card at the entrance gates to the theme parks? I never knew that.

OT: Once I was at one of those booths (MGM I think) where the same attendant serves both sides of him alternatively. I thought the attendant was spending too much time on the other side so I flashed my AP for a finite length of time (something liike twenty seconds) and then drove on, not waiting for the attendant to look at me let alone wave me on.

Briefly thereafter I had some afterthoughts, whether an AP holder should act more honorably and ensure that the attendant saw the AP, or whether the AP holder should be pampered more (see preceding replies).
