I'm not sure I would make a switch if the only reason was for a show. I'm anxious to see the new one, but probably not that much.
I have taken our DD (9) out of school in October for vacation before. Our school has a pretty liberal policy about this and the teachers have always been wonderful about giving us the work to do on vacation. My DD can be a pain about doing the work on vacation, but usually when I warn her that I will never do this again if she gives me a hard time, she does what she is supposed to do. She has straight A's and reads really quickly, so that has always been a factor in our decision to vacation or not. If she wasn't doing so well, we would not take her out at all. I did try to plan this upcoming one to coincide with Election Day (which she would have off), so she is only missing 4 days. If my husband could get off during the summer months or during the major school holidays, we wouldn't take her out at all, but he is a police officer and does not have the seniority to get those prime weeks. So, it's during the school year or nothing for us.
I don't think I will be taking her out for very much longer though. I think once grade school is over, so will our during the school year vacations.
