I went through the college intern process a few months ago. They asked me odd questions.. like if I asked you to get a cup what questions would you ask before getting it. I said what color and what type of cup. what is it for and when do you need it.

Ultimately I did not get the position. Anyone know how to properly answer those questions. It was a production assistant intern position.

I have not been through the PI interview process, but they are highly competitive. Unlike the regular CP, there are only a couple of positions for each internship. Have you been on the CP before? Even if it is not required for your PI, it will still give you a HUGE leg up.

I don't think there is one correct answer to those questions.....I would think it would be more about your thought process

Whether you simply and practically ask "What kind of cup an where can I get it?" or think creatively about materials, shapes, sizes, etc. says a lot about who you are

Of course I don't know this for a fact since the only person who really know is the one doing the interview....but it is an interesting question.

Also, I don't think your answer was "wrong", I think there were just too many people applying for the position!

I haven't undergone the PI process, but since you were applying to be a production assistant intern, I have a feeling they were looking for you to ask minimal questions in that given situation. If they were mid-production and needed a cup ASAP I'm thinking that the intern would have to rush and get one and just sort of "know." That said, I feel like that's one of those situations that's difficult to deal with as an intern. And I agree, weird question. ::yes::

Hi - I am not a college person - just a business professional.
Suggestions:
When some asked "Could you get me a cup" - the response they may have wanted was - "I have one right here for you to use".

When a manager asked for shrimp at a convention - you just say yes sir - not how many shrimp do you want - just order the shrimp, use your own judgement and do more. # of people times 6 shrimp would statisfy most people and the manager when he looks at the spread on the table.

If some says to junp - you jump - do not ask how high.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck on interviews, interships and your careers.
