Crash beats Brokeback!!! Yay!

Chattyaholic,
You think acting on being gay is wrong and that a person should just be celibate. That is easy for you to say because you are not gay or a bisexual. That's the key...YOU'RE NOT GAY, no need for you to act on being gay. No need to worry that there are homosexuals out there. It all works out for YOU. Others are in different situations. They are gay. They want to have a loving relationship. Because YOU BELIEVE it is wrong, you want to tell another person her or she cannot have a loving relationship? :confused3 How does it affect you?

Once again I'll post this question for all of the heterosexual holier-than-thou being-gay-is-horrible types....

If you were in a world where being gay was the norm and being a heterosexual was against your religion, could you choose to have homosexual sex? Would you be able to make yourself be attracted to a same sex partner?

Some days I think I could become attracted to a female now! ;) Just kidding, DH. And no, I'm not a "holier-than-thou being-gay-is-horrible type" even though I'm heterosexual. :teeth:

BTW, being Black is a race and being Jewish is a religion. A black person has no CHOICE in their race, just as every other race. Being Jewish IS a choice of religions.

FYI, Jewish is a religion AND a race.

The better question is:Could you be gay?? Are you attracted to the opposite sex simply because the Bible tells you that is what you are suppose to be attracted to? I am guessing no..you are attracted to the opposite sex..you didn't LEARN this...you didn't FORCE yourself..you just are...
Gay people are attracted to the same sex..THey didn't LEARN this...they didn't FORCE themselves..They just are...

Trust me..I go to church several times a week and hear all the "bad" about gay's...I choose to believe, they aren't hurting me...Why should I care!

Clarification, Jewish is not a race, it's a culture. But none the less, still highly discriminated against.

But I'm Jewish and I wasn't born that way, so for me it's a religion since I converted.

Exactly - I didn't debate that it was a religion, only that it was a RACE. It is a culture and a religion, but not a race.

My mistake...I am not Jewish but I thought I remembered from college that it was...plus I was sure I remembered that it was recognized as a race by the Supreme Court...but my poor google skills make me unable to back that up.

Anyway, continue on...

Well, let me think about that, though. If it's a culture, why is it that Tay-Sachs disease tends to affect people of Jewish descent? It seems that that would be a race thing. But I guess it could be considered a cultural thing, too. Hmmm, will have to think about that when I don't need a nap. I am not processing much of anything right now. :)

Bottom line - anybody who says they had a choice in who they were sexually attracted to is a liar.

It may be because Jews tend to marry people from within their own religious and social groups. For centuries, they could not do otherwise due to civil and religious laws that prevented inter-faith marriages. Marrying within one's own race or ethnic/social/ religious group limits the diversity with the gene pool.

I give up. None of you are going to change my opinion and I'm not going to change anyone else's. Feel free to continue the discussion without me. ;)

But I think that I made good points and I was respectful--why won't you even address them?

I'm not a holier-than-thou-being-gay-is-horrible heterosexual, but as a regular average heterosexual, I will answer.

Heck No!! I could never be gay. The thought of having sex with a woman, or even just kissing one on the lips, gives me the heebie-jeebies!

I would imagine it's exactly the same for most gays and lesbians. I would think that the thought of having sex with the opposite sex would give them the heebie-jeebies, too!

IMO, the only people who have a "choice" as to the gender of the people they have sex with are bisexuals.

Well, I think the only valid arguments against the gay "lifestyle" are rooted in religion. But the argument that one's religion should dictate how another person lives his or her life is a pretty weak one.

Just a guess. :)

Oh, and I'm with AnaheimGirl. The idea of kissing a woman--total heebie-jeebies!!!! :scared:

Kim, I feel the gay lifestyle is wrong because I believe in God and He created woman for man, not woman for woman, or man for man.

About gay being a choice, maybe some people are born with something in their brain that makes them attracted to their same sex, I don't know. But acting on that attraction is what I feel is wrong. The same for a married person to be attracted to someone else. They may have those feelings for someone else, but to act on them and have an affair is wrong. Or for someone to be in a store and want something they dont' have the money for, but they steal it. That was a choice they made, and it was a wrong one.

Very well said. ITA. :thumbsup2

:teeth: Glad you liked that one and thanks for the kitty comment--and I like your signature pics! I almost added that I might be able to handle a steak eating pool boy from another thread, though. ;)
