Ok, so you are talking heritage. My grandparents came from Sweden and Norway. Our Christmas tradition was lutefisk and lefse. I miss living in a Scandinavian area. Ohhh, the memories. Lutefisk is a cod cured by lye and lefse is tortilla like and made with mashed potatoes. Not too many people like the lutefisk.

My whole family is from Louisianna. My parents moved to Texas after my brother was born but before I was born. So, I was raised in Texas, but yes I am a cajun.

One of my best friends is a cajun. :) And she hates seafood!!!!!!!!!! :crazy2: But, she'll make it for her dh. A friend of dh's had to go to his Uncle's funeral during crawfish season and he brought us back around 40lbs! We had a huge crawfish boil for dh's b-day that week!

There is a really funny King of the Hill episode that involves lutefisk..... :rotfl2:

My dad is 100% German. Neither one of his parents spoke English until they started school. :) I am a 3rd generation American. You would be a 2nd generation? I think that is too cool!!! My mom's family has been here along time and they are a mix of Irish/Scotish and probably English. Dh's dad's family is English and his mom's is Scotish.

My dad's family's traditions invovle alot of sweets! ;) And ham! LOL!

Not sure if I would like lutefisk but i'm pretty sure i would like lefse.

I do not like crawfish and I am a disgrace to my family. :rotfl2: My cousins have crawfish ponds and sell them during crawfish season.

Then yo and my friend Shelly would get along great! LOL! She told me that she'll peel them for us but, she doesn't want to eat them! ????!!!

How can you not LOVE crawfish?????

My new washer is here and I'm washing my first load of clothes in it!!! :laundy: After a week without one I will be washing nonstop until Christmas.

Last night I went out with some friends, we went to 2 different bars and drank beer & tequila shots. Tony met us at the 2nd bar. I haven't gone out in a few weeks so it was nice to get out and relax and celebrate Christmas with my friends. I do have a slight hangover today, but better today then tomorrow when I'll be cooking and going to see the family.

Hey guys, I'm home! We had a great time (no pier problems this time :)). The weather could have been better, but it was better than the weather at home. It was overcast and really windy most of the time. The day we were in Cozumel though was really pretty. We did the tequila and margarita tasting on board. I thought of you guys when I did my shots. :drinking1 Three shots of tequila + two margaritas (small ones ) = drunk Cristi. After the tasting they had giant Jenga in the pub. Boy, that was pretty fun once everyone was toasted. :)

We had a great time meeting all of our disboard friends on board. One lady made us some goodie bags to hang on our fish and we had a good time delivering goodies to everyone.

I am almost done unpacking. I need to get the laundry started now. :laundy: I am pretty tired today and it feels like my house is rocking.

Marcie, bet you are happy to finally have a washer again. Beer, tequila and a slight hangover definitely go together!!

Stephanine, my maternal grandparents came from Sweden and my paternal grandparents came from Norway. I can remember them talking in their native tongue and I loved the accents. As they got older the accents disappeared. It was good that they both were from the old countries because we could celebrate the same ways.

We just bought an eliptical machine. I hope that it is considered a weight bearing exercise.

Now I feel like Sandy, I feel like I have so much to reply to.

First let me emphasis Jeff and I have not always had a wonderful marriage. I think I have stated before we went thru a very hard time about 3 years. I can say thru that time our marrige only became stronger. Then this year we had a few issues but we were able to work them out quickly. I have to say my Dh has a very jealous streak at times and those times seem to come out at the wrong times. lol Jeff and I came for totally different upbringings and we are as different as night and day. This has caused us a lot of heart ache at times. It has been very hard at times. We both have had to change a lot and thank goodness both of us were open minded enough to realize if one of us have a problem then our marriage has a problem. OK enough of that.

Lutefish. I have heard of it and never care to taste it. Sorry Sandy. I have freinds in MN that like it though.

Marice and Stephanie. I love crawfish but they are so small and so hard to eat. But I have yet to really find a seafood or fish I do not care for. I think I am part Canjun and Italian at heart. Two of my favorite foods. Oh crap my problem is I love everything.

Marcie, I am glad your washer has arrived. It is so hard to do without one.

Cristi, I am glad you had a great cruise. I can not wait to hear more about the cruise. Giant Jenga sounds like a lot of fun.

Heidi where are you hiding?? In the snow? Sorry had to say that...Only because I would like to have a bit during the weekend to where I do not miss any school/work. Remember I live in NC we hear the word snow and everything shuts down. lol

Jrsy dear we miss you. I think I have missed some birthdays. Happy Birthday Tammy.

Marcie, Happy Birthday to your sweet daddy. I know you are still hurting but celebrate the time you had with him. Love you kiddo!!

Hey Lulu

Now to my life....lol

Found out we had a water leak under the house. Thank goodness it was something we could fix (we as in Jeff) for under $50. I was so scared we were going to have to call a plumber. Erk!!

Still have not been to the movies. We have planned to go for 2 days now and have not made it yet.

I did pack a bit last night. As in pick out the clothes I am taking and now that is laying in the floor in my bedroom. Jeff does not seem to care about packing. I do not know why I alloow this to bother me since he has always waited to the last day to pack for anything. lol

I made the mistake of buying the wireless card for XBox Live. Now my DH and Ds have done nothing but played all day. Yes stupid must be on my forehead.

I also went shopping again today. lol I have been done since September but yet I go back out and buy more. Am I crazy? YES!!

Hope everyone has a good evening.

I'm so glad you have your new machine!!!

Welcome home! I'm sure it was LOTS of fun! DH/oldest DS/oldest DD did the tequila tasting when we did the 10nt.

How COOL!!! Even though my grandmother was born in the US she always had a German accent! LOL! Like I said she didn't speak English until she was about 6 and English was only spoken at school!

We just bought an eliptical machine. I hope that it is considered a weight bearing exercise.

Have....fun....:confused3 exercising! ;)

I know what you mean! LOL! If you add *Tex-Mex* to the list I'm in! LOL! Oh, and steak....... :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am so glad that he was able to fix it! I hate house problems!!!

That's funny! Luckily no one has thought to buy the wireless card for ours. :rotfl: :rotfl: Although I am the one that bought a bunch of video games for the 360 & the Wii for Christmas. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Cristi, welcome home! I can't wait to hear more about your trip. Glad ya stayed on the piers.

Selena, I've bought a few extras too after I said I was done. Oh well, it's almost over. I'm glad your leak was fixable. :thumbsup2

Sandy, I used to have one of those eliptical machines. It was so smooth, I loved it. One day unplugged the power cord and moved the cord. (I don't remember why he did that but anyway) I find a power cord that I thought was the right one but when I plugged it in, and turned it on, it burned up. So apparently I didn't have the right cord. :rotfl2:

Steph, I don't know why I don't like crawfish, they just taste dirty to me. I love shrimp though.

Just finished my 4th load of laundry.

My step-mom upset me today. My plan has been to cook the gumbo tomorrow morning and then go to her house at 4 since that's what time she told me the get together was. Well, she calls me today and asks me if I can be there by 1:30. I told her I wasn't sure if I could get there that early since I was going to be cooking but I would be there before the get together at 4. She asks me why i'm cooking acting surprised that I wasn't going back over her house Christmas day for lunch. I have never one time in my life gone to her house on Christmas day. So, I don't know why she would think I would just expect to go. So, I tell her, no we are staying home, I'm cooking gumbo we are having our family christmas and then going to the movies to see Sweeney Todd. So she says, to just go eat at her house and then go to the movies. She would not take no. But, I'm still not going. It upset me that she couldn't understand that it is important for us to still have Christmas too. It's not like she would be alone. She has a really big family and they all will be there. Then when we hang up she tells me she will see me at 2. Ugghh. I do think it was very nice of her to include us since we will be alone. But, it just upsets me when she won't listen to me when I tell her it's important to me to cook us a special dinner and have our family time too.

Jeff stood in line for 18 hours when the XBox360 came out. I was so stupid to let him know if he wanted it he better get his bum over there to buy it. lol

We also have purchased a Wii for Christmas. I am even more stupid. I hate these games but yet I buy them. I guess I should not complain, I mean we have plenty of rooms to watch TV. lol

Do not let them buy the wireless for the Live. It will change the meaning of gaming. I am serious. I was lying down trying to take a nap this afternoon and Erik was on playing in the livingroom where I was trying to nap. All I cound hear was him talking to his friend on the headset!!

Marice I am so sorry that this is happening to you. You need to do what is right for you and Ariel. I would play along with the Step Mom and then do my own thing too. Much easier to do that then to deal with the conversation. I still want to have some gumbo. I bet yours is awesome!!

I am totally bored out of my head. I think I am going to go to bed. It is only 10. I still need to do some more cleaning for Christmas. We host Christmas at our house.

I did put all of my clothes in my suitcase. However, that suitcase is rather full. I did weigh it and it is only 32 lbs. I think I am going to change the suitcase to a larger one. I wanted to put my roller cooler and my extra duffel in my suitcase. The roller cooler will be used as our carry on for the cruise. The duffel is in cases I have too much in my suitcase coming home and need to have another bag. I am only taking one bag. Now Jeff is taking a suitcase and the garment bag. It is hard to pack for 8 days.

DH and our 2 sons are Gamers so, I hear that anyway! LOL! They play WoW and COH/COV. DH and oldest DS used to run a server for Action Half Life and they still have a BB for gamers. :rotfl:

I have a guest coming for 9 days on the 27th...... She called and asked if she could stay with us.... I thought maybe a couple of days...... She is arriving on my anniversary......:sad2:
She is nice and we get along fine but, the last time I saw her was 10yrs ago and I've only spoken with her about 4 times since then......so, I was kind of taken by surprise!
She will be here the entire time the kids and I have off from our activities. :sad2:

Sandy/Heidi, she lives in Lakewood (she used to live here in TX).

WOW, Stephanie. I just don't think that I could call you up and ask to stay after 10 years. I hope it goes smoothly for you.

Marcie, I think that your stepmom isn't being considerate to YOU. I agree with Selena. Sorry it is happening. HUGS.

Selena, water leaks can be horrible. Glad it is ok now. You sound excited for your trip. I will be thinking of you on NYE!
