What is the best category to list items like American Girl clothing, furniture or Generation Girl vanity?
Where would you list girls size 10 clothing.....under "baby& kids" or "Clothing"

I am trying to find the best places for listings.
Thanks in advance.

Probably toys, but I would pull up all the American Girl listings similar to yours and see where most of them are listed.

Good luck, I'm listing a bunch of stuff on Craigslist too.

Thanks

I listed clothing under kids and already have sold the items.:thumbsup2

The other items are listed by some under collectibles, but I'm thinking more like toys.

Good luck on your sales!:goodvibes

This is a great suggestion for what to do to make some extra money for Christmas. You should make sure to let everyone know where you posted and how you did. Maybe one area will sell better than others. This will help others who may be having a tough time getting funds for Christmas.

No need to ask others for donations, when you can do for yourself. This is an example. I am sure you could use your proceeds from Craigslist to pay off some bills and or use it to purchase a gift your child may have on their list for Christmas.

Suggestion #1 - Go through your home, find items that you have acquired and are not using and try to sell for some extra funds.

Well, everything sold on the first day!!!
Posted in toys.....rather than collectibles.

Craigslist is much better than eBay these days....no shipping charges and you meet some really great people.

I'm glad that someone can use this idea to start a Christmas fund or maybe even pay some bills. Clearing unused items leads to less clutter too.

Totally agree, I now have two 'regular customers' that buy kids clothing from me. I have them on my Facebook and send them a message at the beginning of each season so they get first pick before selling at yard sales, etc....

Wow, that's great! I keep thinking about listing some things on Craig's List. Not clothes, since I like to donate those, but some sports equipment that DH never uses. Hmm, I think I'll give it a shot.:thumbsup2

Last year I made almost $400 on CL. We had some bigger items, though. I do need to sort through the kids toys and see what we can get rid of (LPS comes to mind immediately, I tried to do it over the summer and DD tried to die.....she hasn't played with them yet, though, so out they go.) I also have a NIB retired AG item. I listed it once with no response this summer. I think I'll try again now that it's closer to Christmas. I could put at least 1/2 YDS's toy box on CL and he'd never miss it. He has sooo many hand me down toys that he doesn't use. I need to do that, some other little boy might be thrilled to get them for Christmas and they are in like new shape.

Some suggestions

Tis the season when the leaves are falling like snow. For those with older children (age 8 and up), the kids could go around asking the neighbors if they can rake leaves for some extra cash to help supplement their Chirstmas wish list. When it starts snowing, they can shovel snow. You could have the kids do holiday crafts and rent a table at a flea market to sell the items. With so many people about to leave town for Thanksgiving, they could offer to pet sit for a small fee. It is never to early to teach children how difficult it is to afford expensive items when the family is struggling to put food on the table. Those with children old enough to hold down a public job, now is a good time to look for employment and pay for their own wish list. Some places even give discounts to their employees, so that can also help the total family budget as well.

Weed through old holiday decorations and sell them. Now is the best time to do that, since so many people are struggling and out of work and can't afford to buy new. Old exercise equipment used as a clothes rack is another thing that can be sold. Never too late for a yard sale. I saw a few this last weekend. With the price of gold high, now would be a good time to part with items that really hold no sentimental value. Last I heard the back of an earring is worth something like $50. That could pay for Thanksgiving dinner.

Wow! That's great! AG stuff always sells well but I can usually get a higher price for it on ebay. Doll clothes are lightweight and don't cost too much to ship. Ebay also has 50 free listings per month so there are no fees unless your item actually sells.

I need to get some stuff on Craigslist as well. I have DD's bed and dresser with mirror that needs to go. We are moving soon so I am on a mission to declutter too!

I've made about $500 in the past two weeks selling on craigslist! It promptly went into my Disney fund. :lmao: I love it. I never meet anyone at my home, and always out in public (Starbucks, WM, etc.)

Do your clothes really sell in an hour? Are people reliable about paying once they say they want it?

Which AG item do you have? I may be interested.

Check completed listings on ebay to see what your item is selling for these days. Good luck!

If you have any Disney Cars toys to sell then this is the year to do it. Those will be a popular item this year!

Yes, I was so lucky that someone called before I could even add the pictures.

I met them at a grocery store parking lot with my huge bin of clothes and let them look at the "lot" and then they purchased more. This lady has 3 girls so she bought 2 different sizes and shoes too.

I keep the prices reasonable...only what I would be willing to pay. Everything is in great condition.
My older DD outgrew most all of her clothes as she had a growth spurt upon turning 13. My younger DD has a different shape....tummy and a bit of a bum....so she can hardly ever wear sister's handme-downs.

The AG stuff sold the a lady that had previously purchased a doll from me...so kinda like a regular. Her DD is young and any AG stuff is new and exciting. The "special keepsake AG dolls" I will always keep, but both girls still often play with them.

I have a few AG outfits for girls that I will list soon. They are too big for the lady's daughter. Since they are all retired I might try eBay.

I have had great luck with Craigslist.

If you're still looking for some extra cash, you might also want to consider selling gold and/or silver.. Broken chains; one earring; old rings; - even silver coins..

DD sold some gold about a month or so ago - didn't really have all that much -and made a tidy sum of money!! :thumbsup2
