??? Craigslist ???

We sold a dishwasher on Craigslist. We listed it a bit higher than we originally wanted because we knew people would dicker us down. One of the first guys who responded didn't. :confused3

We did get quite a few responses, but nothing weird like others are mentioning.

DS#3 is trying to sell his reptile cage; it is large. I have gotten one serious inquiry and two very suspect ones.

my DS buys things all the time from there. He told me yesterday he found a car that he wants to buy.

My DD found a great job through Craigslist. She loves it.

I prefer giving my 'stuff' away through freecycle. I always worry that if I charge someone they'll think I'm Sear's and expect a warranty.

We buy and sell on Craiglists all the time. My dh is addicted.:rolleyes1

We have bought cars, a boat, jet ski's, furniture, etc...

We have sold all kinds of things. Our latest sell was a big can of fence stain.

I actually am meeting a woman today (in a public parking lot) to give her an item she is buying from me.

I love Craigslist. I have bought and sold some things here and there and have never had a problem.

I just sold an 1950's vintage office desk on CL. One of our neighbors bought found their house via CL.

Nice thing about CL is that you are "hidden" from the buyers....CL forwards the buyers email to you....it's up to you to contact the buyer.

We sold a bunk bed set on CL a couple months ago. I had the cash in my hands 1 hour after I had listed them. The funny part is that the couple who bought it turned out to be a friend of a friend who lived like 6 blocks away.

We bought a sailboat from CL...no problems, DH looked at a lot of them so he knew what he was looking for. Very fair and reasonable transaction experience. I am pretty sure my brother bought a car off CL too. Like anything, buyer beware!

How does it compare to Ebay? I found ebay to be kind of a pain.

I've bought and sold lots of things on Craigslist. Most recently, I bought my 2005 Ford Winstar off of there and paid so much less for it. I bought a set of twin beds off of there, as well as a couch. I have also bought alot of baby equipment from there too. I got an excellent deal on a PSP for my son for Christmas.
That is one of the websites that I check daily. You never know what good deals you are going to find on there.

The only "pain" I have found about it is that most of the time you have to pick up the items and it seems like noone lives near me. So, there is always a little driving involved.

I like Craigslist, i just sold 4 tires on there yesterday. It's Free!!

I'm putting the house on the market soon and I have a TON of stuff I want to get rid of so this may be a good thing for me. I thought Ebay would end up costing too much in the long run.

I've used it a few times to buy and sell furniture, and also to find roommates. Like any listing service, you just have to be careful.

I work for a chairty and I post all the time in the "Volunteer" section whenever we need new blood in our volunteer pool or if we need help with a large project. Because of the screening process I have firmly in place, Craigslist has proven to be a great resource for us!

I've used it extensively and always had great luck. I've sold furniture and electronics and bought a lot of stuff as well.

I work in theatre. We use Craigslist and Freecycle a lot, especially for prop and furniture shopping. We occasionally post under "wanted" if we are looking for something specific. Just in the last few months I have gotten a faux fireplace, an art deco chair, a huge lumber rack, and an old secretary (desk, not person). I have talked my husband into getting rid of dozens of his beer bottles (he is a homebrewer) on Craigslist. You do have to be aware that this is truly a free market and you are on your own.

ETA - and hundreds of beautiful carpet squares that we are using on a set right now came from Craigslist. When we told the guy we were NFP he gave them to us free.

I sold my horse on Craigslist and am currently working on selling number two (see my How Rude! w/photos thread).

You WILL get some real loonies and lots of people who want something (i.e YOUR something) for nothing. BUt there are lots of great folks out there too!
