Craig's List

At least with craigslist you know that you won't lose money! Ebay done me wrong 3 times this year. I don't trust ebay to help me with anything. I lost $100 total to 3 different sellers. Can't get my money back. Hate ebay.

Did you pay with PayPal? Did you report them? eBay didn't do you wrong, the sellers did you wrong. You don't blame a mall if a store in it gives you bad customer service.

Follow up on these people and if you used PayPal report them immediately. I've been a seller for 5 years and I am held accountable for every transaction I make. I had two buyers who had lost packages and one in Australia who had a damaged package delivered. I was reported to PayPal and I had to do the follow up. Luckily I got my money back via USPS insurance.

I bought concert tickets off of Ebay. I met the seller in a public parking lot. My brother sold his entertainment center on CL. I like using CL for certain things....but don't venture into sections like RANTS & RAVES and other "personals." It can get quite disgusting.

It is against the rules to post your item every day. An active board will report and have your posts removed for doing that. It's really rude to spam CL's like that.

Really??? I've always reposted my items once a week and never had any deleted..in fact, if I don't do that things have never sold! I never knew that was against the rules. I don't consider that spamming since I"m not putting false listings. I don't mean to start a debate or anything, but I just never knew that.

You can post every 7 days. Your not suppose to delete and repost, there is a note when you delete that it can't be reposted for 48 hours, I think it is.

I have sold tons on Craigslist with no bad experiences. Sometimes I put it on CL and if it doesn't sell I post it to Freecycle. I have had people no show from Freecycle, so now I just say "it's in the front yard, you can pick it up"

Your ability to post and relist varies depending on the city/region you post in. Here in Pittsburgh our listings last for 45 days. I listed something about 4 weeks ago and I am still getting inquiries about it. When I checked other regions I noticed it varies from city to city Seattle/Tacoma is 7 days. I'm sure it has to do with the (web) traffic for each city.

I've had great luck with Craigslist and I do not look at it as an online garage sale at all. I have sold some higher end items on there and I do not come down on price for at least a week and never if I receive 3 or more serious inquiries. For smaller items, I usually meet people at a public place that is convenient for both. I have even shipped things following payment via paypal. For larger items, I have had people come to our house. My DH and I will often have the item outside ready for them to load into their vehicle or if it is too large they come in and get it. I don't quite understand the reluctance to have people come to your house as strangers pass your house everyday and can see if you are attractive, have kids, etc. You can usually get a good read on people from their email correspondence and if I feel uncomfortable with the way our conversation is going I just stop responding. I do not quite get the aversion to having someone come to your house :confused3
