Craft Room Flooring - Any Suggestions?

We are finishing up with building a new home and it is time for me to pick out flooring for my little craft room (was supposed to be a full bath - but who needs a 3rd full bath when you can have a craft room, right???). We are already buying prefinished hickory flooring for some other rooms, so I thought I could use some of the same flooring in the craft room. DH thought it might be cool to have something different in there. I need it to be something worry-free, something I can drop paint or something heavy on and not have to worry about it messing the floor up. I was thinking about the rigid vinyl tiles like they install at schools, the kind that get sealed periodically with some type of poly (I guess). Any ideas/suggestions??? TIA!

I'm refinishing my attic and installing laminate flooring (the cheap stuff, on purpose) in the area I will use as my sewing room. We have hardwood floors throughout the house but I'm using the laminate mostly because there are no gaps between the boards (in case I drop needles, pins or beads) and because I can get the floor super clean with just a swiffer for laying out large pieces of fabric.

I think the tiles you are considering are also a great idea. If they're the same ones I'm thinking of, they're almost like linoleum and come in like 20 colours. I have also seen them in sheets, but that would be really hard to work with. Great thing about the tiles is that you can lay them out in a pattern, have a different coloured border around the edge, or do a checkerboard. They can also be waxed, so nothing will stick to them -- not even paint.

If you want something that looks like tile I would suggestion the faux tile that is the concept of the laminate wood floors. It is laminate, but it's the click and stick theory. They look very nice when down, and are SUPER durable, and easily cleanable!!!

It really depends on what type of crafting you do. Don't get something expensive which you might not want to get paint on.
