Cracking down on outside food?

I think Disney needs to get to work on enforcing all the rules they currently have that they don't .... rolling backpacks, large pull coolers, wagons, smoking where ever, double and triple riders on ECVs, adults in costumes, large tripods, selfie sticks ................. all of which are a danger to guests.

Yup!!

Selfie Sticks
No flash in dark rides
Rolling Backpacks
Smokers EVERYWHERE
Kids loading up on grandma's ECV
Group Line Jumpers

To name a few...................

We were in line at soaring and a family in front of us sat down and pulled out a meal for their children. The meal consisted of a little crockpot type container and plates and silverware. We kinda just stood there amazed. I have no problem with this but not in a moving line
.

We had a lady stop in the Toy Story Midway Mania line and hold up the entire line to change a diaper full of poop and she just left the diaper there after holding the line for about 7 minutes. I would prefer the meal. LOL

Even when we did come with the kids, we never brought food nor drink, including water, to the parks. It's part of our vacation to buy what we want at the parks.
Bringing in food to me is the equivalent to bringing food to a restaurant.

Not the same thing at all.:rolleyes: Please, this is so snobby. For a lot of us peons, we are just happy to be at Disney. We pick and choose what we spend our money on. If we want to eat at a nice table service restaurant then we can't afford to pay for every meal in the park.

With the movement to all day dinner menus, I think we may see more people bringing in food. Hey - sometimes a girl just wants a turkey sandwich. And I really do not like counter service. I am extremely health conscious and pick and choose very carefully where I spend my calories.

why didn't you just go around her?

Keeping in mind it's a rumor, I'll answer the question the original poster posed. No, it wouldn't matter to me and no it wouldn't impact my vacation. Before anyone accuses me of being elitist, we've been going to WDW since my son was 3 and I was a single mother. I was a secretary and worked on the Saturdays his father bothered to take him for extra money. We went to WDW every other year since it took me two years to save for it. I didn't get child support and live in a college town so pay is low here for jobs like office work since you can get a college kid cheap. Now, I said all that to say, we never brought food into the park, it was my choice to buy food there. I'm a healthy eater and eat small meals about every 3 hours and have never had any problems finding healthy food in the parks. My son was allergic to dairy long before it was recognized, I had no problems finding things for him to eat and he was a toddler, I never had problems finding a healthy snack for him. My niece is diabetic, she has to do the whole shots and count her carbs thing, we have never had a problem finding things for her to eat in the parks. Again, I choose not to bring food into the parks, it's just too much of a pain for me to carry around things and, yes, I'm on vacation and I had to pinch pennies at home, vacation was my time to splurg.

Im sure this will come down the pike at some point. They will likely make some reasonable accommodations as one bottle of water per person, allowing baby food and milk. I would also hope that they make accommodations for people with dietary restrictions such as gluten free etc and allow small snacks for children. Other than that people bringing in full meals to the park is a huge loss of revenue to Disney, and something that is easy for them to put an end to. Note that this is already the policy in the California Park.

I honestly wish they would ban coolers in the park...and if the type of people who bring those coolers stop coming even better!

ADA protects peoples rights to bring their food anywhere. My and my kids have celiac so we bring our food everywhere even not outside food allowed places.

Disney offers so much Gluten Free food on their property that they could deny you the ability to bring in food if they wanted to. Pretty much every restaurant has Gluten free options.

I'm not sure the QS and TS resturants could handle the additional crowds. With MK being a 5 and a 4 on the crowd calendar, Epcot a 1 and AK being a 2 on the days we went there in March, the lines at the resturants were long and you had at least a 10-15 minute wait time to get your food.

If Disney did this, we would just leave the park and eat at the car in the parking lot. We can't afford to eat in the park each day.

That's not true at all. I'm a DL AP holder and I take food in all the time. A couple sandwiches and lots of snacks and some bottles of water and soda.

Just because they offer it doesn't mean they can deny someone with an ADA issue from bringing in their own food. That's not how the ADA works.

All food I bring in for myself, wife and two boys easily fits into a standard backpack. These items are generally stuff like fruit, protein bars, granola bars, goldfish, various snacks, and maybe a Gatorade or two.

If Disney is going to completely restrict outside food, they'd better be willing to fork over a free dining plan card for to use at my leisure otherwise they can piss off. While I do occasionally enjoy a park treat or splurge, I refuse to pay for they crappy grossly over priced food. I care more about my budget than the stakeholders they're trying to please.

Just my $.02

We eat organic & gluten free...we bring in our lunches the majority of the time. Items like wraps, cut up veggies, cheeses & crackers really don't weigh down the backpack lol. And sorry, but the price hikes of everything at WDW makes it all the more important for us to have the option of bringing in our lunch.

There was another restaurant post on a page behind this, sorry for not quoting it exactly. You don't pay admission to enter a restaurant. Big difference.

This is so true that is not the same thing at all. Every time we come to Disney we order groceries from Garden grocer including lots of water and snacks to bring into the park. Some of us are just happy to be there. Why buy a bottle of water for 4 dollars when I can buy a whole 30 pack of water for 4 dollars. Also we bring stuff like trail mix in to keep us going thru out the day. Bringing food into a restaurants and bring food, water, etc is completely different. Disney allows this. This practice allows us to eat at nicer restaurants and not break the bank on 4 dollar water

speculation that Disney will be cracking down on food and drink brought into the parks

1) Why not?
2) Disney, or any other entertainment venue, wants to make money on food and drink.
3) And they deserve to be able to do so.
4) What was once an allowance for folks has gotten way out of hand.
5) Some people bring enough food in to feed themselves all day.
6) If I owned the parks, I would sure want to increase my food and beverage sales.
7) I see NOTHING WRONG with stopping all (non medical) food and drink from being brought into the parks.

I can't see Disney banning bottles of water. Most places that don't allow outside food allow water. There is also a huge difference between a cooler full of food and a baggie of goldfish crackers. A few snacks that fit inside a purse or bag are reasonable. Special dietary foods are reasonable. But does anyone need ot bring a full meal into the park? No. Go back to your car or to your hotel and take a break to eat or eat what's available.
